Summary: The apartment was perfect for our weekend in DC. We walked from the apt to the national Mall and home from a Nats game. Also, very convenient to a metro stop. Be sure to check out The Roost for dinner!

Summary: The Capitol Hill Retreat was a nice, clean, cute apartment for me and my 2 kids to stay. It was close to the Metro stop and in a safe neighborhood. However, we had issues with the toilet not flushing properly (needed to manually adjust the mechanics in the water tank) and after contacting the owner heard no response the entire trip. The kitchen was not fully stocked. The owner only supplied 2 glasses, 3 forks, 3 plates, no potholders. There were plenty of spoons, bowls, and wine glasses however. Also- anytime I used the oven it set off the smoke alarm- even if it was just pre-heating! Overall, I would stay here again, but would recommend that the owners fix the toilet and re-stock the kitchen.

Summary: Upon arriving (3 hours after check in time) the property had not been cleaned (bed slept in, floor dirty, etc..). The host got someone over to clean the property quickly but we had to leave for an hour after traveling all day. We were sent some money to make up for this. When we returned, it smelled like chemicals for hours The next afternoon we were contacted while out sightseeing and told the cleaner smelled gas the night before and that a gas company needed to come inspect the property while we were out with our things unattended at the property. We slept overnight the night before with a possible safety issue without knowing. When we saw the message, we replied to ask if needed to be there—and then we did not hear from the host again for over an hour. After a great deal of stress during what was supposed to be our main vacation day we were informed there was no issues after all. The final day we awoke to find the shower had no hot water at all for us to get ready to leave. We tried waiting but it did not warm up after trying several times over 2 hours and we eventually had to make do with freezing cold water. Although the issues were resolved the stress caused from not knowing the gas situation and issues on all three days of our short stay was unacceptable. The host did not seem very understanding and offered only a small refund for the gas issue. For a property only slightly less expensive than a hotel in a similar are I cannot recommend this place for DC travelers.

Summary: The location was great (near the metro and walking distance to convenience stores and restaurants). Space was perfect for our family. The only negative was not having coffee, but we knew that going in, so it was easy enough to buy k-cups when we arrived. The host was very responsive to communication. Overall, a very good experience.

Summary: Listing was just as discribed, very clean and comfortable. Parking can be tricky, but that was expected in D.C but we managed to find a spot just a few doors down. Couple living upstairs but never heard them and I hope they never hear us. Things are close enough to walk to, food, stores etc just use Google maps. Would stay again.

Summary: This VRBO was a great home base to explore DC. It was a short walk to the Potomac Metro with several food options between the station and the walk back. It was so much nicer than a hotel since we were able to walk to Safeway and supply many of own meals and we had room to spread out at the kitchen table and 2 rooms. The rental is supplied with the bare basics for cooking, but it fit our needs for making breakfast and lunch for our family of 4. Unfortunately, there were a few frustrations. The wi-fi streaming services kept glitching so movies on the tv wouldn't work well. (WiFi is better at the kitchen table.) The day-bed didn't convert to a king (it was broken) so 1 teenager slept on the bed while the other slept on the couch, which was a little short for my almost 6ft. 15 year old. The place was generally in good repair, but a few towels and sheets weren't clean-which icked me out a bit and we didn't have enough hand soap for the week. The owner was very responsive, but wasn't really close enough to help with any problems. Overall, we were super happy to stay there. As long as the cleaning crew steps it up, it's a great option.

Summary: It was great. If you go, know that the door is at street level kind of tucked in between buildings. We were looking at doors with steps. This sounds stupid I know but keep it in mind.

Summary: Unit was very nice. Clean and quiet, never heard neighbors above. Super convenient to Metro, easy walk to Safeway. The parking pass was great to have since we drove from New England, but then used Merto so we didn’t drive the whole week. Bed was very comfortable. Day bed was listed to convert to a king size. But it was really a trundle bed. One of my teens ended up sleeping on the other sofa instead. Kitchen could use a few more pots as there were only 2 small ones, barely big enough for us to boil pasta and heat sauce. Overall nice unit, we enjoyed our stay.
