Important to know there's no elevator in the building. Stairs are good exercise!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was our first experience with a rental in Mexico. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience, playa caribe was gorgeous. Playa caribe #9 will always hold a special place in our hearts, we made some fun family memories there. We had top notch service with everyone we came into contact with, David with Akumal Direct was phenomenal. During our stay at Playa Caribe we rented a golf cart and that was the highlight we had so much fun trolling around the beautiful town of Akumal. We did have some minor issues with scheduled transportation but all in all it was minor, David did his best to resolve quickly. This was truly one of the best vacations our little girls will always remember this beautiful place and the fun memories we made.

Reviewer Comments: The little enclave around Half Moon Bay is delightful, and a perfect escape/welcoming after a day of hectic activities around the Maya Riviera. The unit is very comfortable and well maintained with both maid and management staff on-site daily. Especially nice is the table and sofa on the deck for early morning coffee. The location is great except when the sargassum grass comes in as Playa Caribe is in the middle of the bay where it accumulates. A couple of comments for planning your menu - there is no conventional oven (a toaster oven too small for pizza's) and there is no gas grill on the property for grilling. Neither is a problem, just good to know ahead of time.

Reviewer Comments: We had a lovely time even though the winds were high & blowing in lots of sargassum due to their direction. That's out of anyone's control, the weather. I could only locate 1 of 2 hair dryers & the 1 should be updated with a newer model. We were told there would be salt & pepper, eventually found salt though we'd purchased one by then. There were no coffee filters but the maid found some for us when requested. The daily housecleaning is fabulous & so appreciated. Loco ****** was very responsive during the process. If we ever return to Akumal, we would stay at Playa Caribe again.

Summary: The space is very accommodating to family with a generous living room, dining room, kitchen, outdoor terraces, two bedrooms and bathrooms. The kitchen is well appointed with all the things you need. Beds are very comfortable! The decor is charming. Some condos in other nearby buildings feel very sterile, but this is truly residential and captures the spirit of Akumal. The staff is excellent. The concierge helped tremendously with recommendations, pre-planning and booking. There is always someone accessible on site or by phone/text for any needs. The level of communication and responsiveness is excellent. We didn’t use the pool, but it looked like people really enjoyed it. Access to the beach is great! This entire area has rocky areas, so bring water shoes to enjoy going in and out of the water. We rented paddle boards and loved taking them out in the bay. They also have plenty of towels for both the beach, so no need to take bath towels outside! There are several great restaurants nearby, a convenient small market shop across the street, close to the cenote/lagoon at the end of the road, lots of shops, cafes and restaurants in the main part of Akumal a walk or golf cart ride away. It feels like the people here really care. It’s great! We would love to come back!
