Casa das Flores (AL25736) is perfectly situated in the centre of the sheltered, south-facing bowl of Arco da Calheta.
Sleeps 6, an additional beds can be provided for children.
Calheta has the reputation of being one of the warmest areas in Madeira.
The villa was designed to maximise from the benefit of its position for its views of the Atlantic Ocean, Arco da Calheta village and the mountains behind.
A top class interior designer was employed to assist with the interior layout and furnishings.
The villa is positioned to maximise the shade in the summer to keep the villa cool and in the winter allow the sun to shine on the south facing windows.
This contemporary, high-spec villa is surrounded by extensive, well maintained gardens, offering luxurious and spacious accommodation with uninterrupted 180ยบ views of the Atlantic Ocean and village.
The open plan living area is designed for maximize use of natural light and for indoor/outdoor living.
The ample Miele-fitted kitchen/diner leads directly out to a large pool terrace with BBQ, outside dining table, loungers and umbrellas.
The pool (11x4m), with its solar cover, is heated to maintain a water temp of approx. 20c, in the Winter, higher temperature in the summer.
Additional heating up to 26c can be provided in the Winter, at an additional charge, please contact the owner for details.
For winter, the lounge has a wood burner, the kitchen and bathrooms have under-floor heating and oil-filled radiators are available for the bedrooms.
WiFi, DVD, CD, games, meo cable TV are available.
HDMI cables are supplied to connect computers to the televisions for guests that wish to watch BBC and ITV using a VPN
Casa das Flores is licenced (AL - Alojamento Local- ) and tourist approved, complying with all statutory requirements, is registered for IVA and pays appropriate taxes, so you can rent with confidence.
INDOOR / OUTDOOR LIVING and the POOL:
This Villa is ideal for indoor/outdoor living and you can enjoy meals outside during most of the year, except perhaps Jan-Mar.
The winter sunsets over the ocean are a perfect evening backdrop.
The large terrace, provides a number of private sun bathing areas, with attractive flower beds, extends along the length of the house and contains a large heated swimming pool, which measures 11 x 4 meters.
Adjacent to the pool is a shower room and a BBQ shack (conveniently close to the kitchen) with gas BBQ, a 2-burner gas hob and sink unit.
Plenty of garden furniture is provided, including a dining table for 6, numerous additional chairs, 6 sun loungers.
Awnings provide shelter over the dinning area. Stone steps lead up to the pretty, well-stocked landscaped garden at the upper level behind the house which can also be accessed from the bedroom passage.

The lounge and kitchen have large 40 ins screens.

Summary: We got off to a slightly rocky start, finding out only a couple of hours prior to checking in that the house was double booked. Not what we wanted to hear after 2 days of flying to get to Madeira! While this was disappointing, the owner did apologize profusely and respond quickly, accepting that this was a mistake at her end and booking us into a really nice local hotel for the first night. The next day, the move-in went smoothly. We were so glad to unpack our bags and relax. The house is beautiful, with a great view over the Atlantic. The pool is the ICING on the cake- long enough to swim lengths, private and heated if you need it (for a small upcharge. ) The house is very well kept up and very clean. It is also equipped with almost anything you could need, and feels like a home away from home. We would definitely stay here again. Only a couple of small points: there is no air conditioning- which was not a big problem for us, as it was October and nights were a little cooler, but in hotter weather, some might find it a little warm in the house. There are fans in most rooms. There are roller shutters, but no screen doors, so leaving all the doors open to let in a breeze can lead to a few geckos and mosquitos getting into the houseโ€ฆ but not a big deal as we were outside on the deck by the pool most of the time.

Summary: Very spacious and well kept house with large pool, outdoor kitchen and stunning view over the ocean. Kitchen extremely well kept (Miele appliances). This would be a straight 5 stars, with one exception. The surrounding was not as quite as we have hoped. Several neighbours with yappy dogs and quite some traffic on the nearby street. Otherwise absolutely great!!!

Summary: The property is beautiful and well kept. The owners are always available and the grounds keepers are great! wonderful area, beautiful island. Rent a car if you stay in this area to see the island , but you can always grab a cab if need too. They have everything in the house! huge beautiful windows for the best views! BBQ and pool area fantastic! I would recommend a pillow topper in the main bedroom bed its very firm, but that is my only "complaint" haha if that classifies as one. highly recommend!! This was so great we were 4 days into our holiday and rebooked for June next year!

Summary: Not often in life do you get to stay in a property of this quality in such a special location. The weather was almost perfect and we enjoyed two super weeks exploring Arco Da Calheta and Madeira. The pool and pool area at Casa Das Flores are amazing, we used the pool every day. The villa has everything you need come rain or shine. Access to walks and shops/bars from the door also a bonus. Our only critique was the noise from locals who appeared to be racing their cars at night near the property. Overall, a 5 star property in a fantastic location.

Summary: We fell in love with this property last year and brought all the family this year. Itโ€™s so spacious, well appointed and clean, and for me the view, flowers and little garden make it special. We had 2 cars this year and used the helpful garage. Convenient location while still being so private. Hoping to return one day. Thank you!

Summary: The pictures do not do it justice is all I can say. The property is absolutely stunning and it really is made to feel like a home away from home! It is very spacious and light. We have fallen in love with Madeira and will be back soon. Even though it was December we had the most amazing weather and the pool was the perfect way to while away the hours. Not to mention the sunsets - from the comfort of the sofa or out by the pool! Nothing compares. We were sorely disappointed to leave before the fireworks. Our kids loved the lizards in the garden and had loads of fun feeding them. You will find everything you need in Calheta which is beautifully done up with the Christmas lights. We cannot wait to go back.

Summary: Our second visit to Casa das Flores was much anticipated, having had such an enjoyable stay last year. This time it was really lovely walking in and seeing the fabulous view out over the banana plantations and the village of Arco to the wide expanse of ocean beyond. The large patio, so nicely furnished and with plenty of lush, colourful plants around and of course the generous sized pool which was kept at a very pleasant 27 degrees for the length of our stay. We appreciated the spacious, open plan layout of the living spaces, the extremely well equipped kitchen and comfortable seating areas. The villa is a fabulous base from which to explore the island and we had a wonderful holiday.
