This Outstanding, Elegant home is in the beautiful mountains between Atenas and Orotina. La Carolina is the place to enjoy your well-deserved tropical vacation at higher elevations, with breathtaking views, striking sunsets, and cooler temperatures.
The inside and outside areas of this large, enchanting home are magnificent. A central focal point is the huge covered veranda with the exquisite solar-heated infinity pool that hovers above the abundant jungle underneath. The gas-heated jacuzzi with a waterfall adds to the leisure lifestyle that we offer to our guests.
Enjoy the combination of massive distant views, lush jungle, and a wide variety of tropical birds and wildlife, all right there at your doorstep. White-faced capuchin monkeys and Howler monkeys are regular visitors to La Carolina.
Imagine starting your mornings with a delicious cup of Costa Rican coffee and a fresh tropical fruit breakfast overlooking the expansive view, mesmerizing. Life does not get any better than this. La Carolina is a true hidden Gem, one of those places you would like to keep as your private hideaway, a piece of Paradise.
The long-stretched floor plan is smartly designed to allow every room direct access to the covered outdoor veranda. With its exquisite grand open floor plan, well-appointed chef’s kitchen, and fantastic outdoor deck, this spectacular home guarantees a fabulous vacation.
The huge master bedroom has a king-size bed and an en-suite bathroom with a double vanity sink. The two guest rooms are nicely located on the other side of the house for complete privacy. Guest room 1 and guest room 2 both have a queen-size bed. In the hallway, there is a spacious full bathroom to share. All bedrooms have direct access to the covered veranda.
Note: Atenas/San Mateo has the best weather in Costa Rica. Warm days and in the evening it cools off to a wonderful 20 degrees. We sleep with our windows open and maybe a fan on. When you want to use the AC in the master bedroom, we charge $10 per day/night.
Our property management team is multilingual and from the Netherlands (English, Dutch, Spanish, and German). They are ready to welcome you to La Carolina and will do everything possible to make your stay successful.
As an additional service to our house guests, our management team offers a fee-based airport pick-up and drop-off to help you avoid the potential hassles involved in the transitions into and out of your time in Costa Rica.
It is something to consider, particularly when you have night-time travel plans, but it is a nice comfort in any event. They also provide car rentals and tours to all corners of the country, including visits to several volcanoes and waterfalls, Catamaran Sailing trips, an Organic Coffee Farm, exciting outdoor activities, and tours custom-made to our guests' requests throughout Costa Rica.
Everything is set up to your ease, from grocery service to having your fridge stocked with your favorite groceries upon arrival, a home-cooked meal ready for you on your arrival day, and a professional, relaxing massage at the house. Our house managers are prepared to serve.
With its central location, it is easy to visit the Pacific beaches (about 45 minutes), stroll around authentic little towns like Orotina (10 minutes) and Atenas (25 minutes), or venture out to National Parks and other activities.

Summary: This is our second year of staying in this house and we enjoyed visiting La Carolina again! The views are amazing, house is big and great for families, property managers were very helpful and always responsive! Summary: Our family trip was awesome. La Carolina was as beautiful as the pictures and positioned for beautiful views. The managers Sandra and Klaas we every attentive and responded quickly with small typical mishaps. They were very informative about ant questions on excursions. I would recommend this vacation home/villa.

Summary: Management was very flexible. When my daughter requested the little studio downstairs at the last moment, they made it happen - she enjoyed having her own space and from her vantage point you could see through the trees instead of the canopy above. The kitchen was amazing and well stocked with pots, pans, dishes/glasses and silverware. Water tasted delicious and we drank a lot of it! The views from the veranda are simply amazing - bring binoculars and a good camera. We had toucans several days, various lizards, many birds and monkeys dropped by one day. We really relaxed here and generally spent several hours each night in the pool. There is no A/C in the mater bedroom. When I reserved it it said there was, but there are several ceiling fans and extra floor fans to move the air. Also management brought a evaporative cooler which helped on hotter days. It is a lovely place to stay, several different flowers in bloom when we were there. The gate can be a bit touchy, but it never failed to let us into the driveway or close after we left. The villa also has a book with contact, checkout and local restaurant information. I wish all rentals had this because they are invaluable when you are not familiar with a location. The roads are twisty turns and narrow in places - welcome to the mountains. We were driving a BIG Landcruiser and made it thru just fine and the views in the mountains - amazing! The only negative - was loud motorcycles late at night two nights.

Summary: The three of us had room to spread out and enjoy this great house. We spent hours on the patio overlooking a huge, green valley, nestled between mountains. We swam and used the jacuzzi, daily. I enjoy having a well-stocked kitchen and cooked 5 of our meals in the evening. We enjoyed Costa Rica during the day, and the house in the evenings. Klaas, the property manager assigned to us, picked us up at the airport, had groceries waiting, a rental car delivered the next morning, our chosen tours all arranged, and was always a WhatsApp away if we had questions. Honestly, the attention of the property managers was a highlight! We will definitely rent through them, again. The house is just as described and pictured. I love the one-level, being able to walk out the patio door right to the pool area. Screens on every window allowed us to catch the breeze. The washer and dryer are huge! And newer models. We had lots of bird visits and could hear howler monkeys across the valley. Highly recommend!

Summary: Our group of 6 traveled to Costa Rica for the 1st time and spent the first four days at La Carolina and loved every minute. The place is amazing and the views are stunning! We saw toucans daily and sometimes heard howler monkeys off in the distance. The heated saltwater infinity pool was used often and was a delight to have views overlooking the valley from the pool. Conveniently located between 2 towns, we loved the intimacy of the somewhat secluded location, yet found towns and activities to be easily accessible. The management company was fantastic and helped with booking rental cars, airport pickup and activities. This house is special and was great for a family getaway with 2 teenagers. We hope to be able to return one day! A+++

Summary: Overall a wonderful and relaxing stay. Property management was superb in helping with whatever we needed. The house is spectacular with great views of the mountains and rainforest. The best part were the evening dinners on the patio listening to the rain and wildlife.

Summary: From the moment you walk in until the second you leave, you are mesmerized by the house, pool area, and views. Our whole week was beyond our expectations. The waterfall tour and zip lining are a must do. They were absolutely amazing. We highly recommended using the airport pick up and private transportation to all your tours. Marco, Klaas, and Sandra are the absolute best. Marco drove us to all our tours and even went on the Monkey mangrove tour with us. We had a great time talking and joking with Marco and Klaas where ever we drove. By the way Marco does an awesome Arnold Schwarzenegger impression. You swear you are with Arnold. Marco had us rolling in the car. Marco you are truly an amazing person. Sandra was always available and answer all questions super fast. Klaas came to the house and took care of a few things and took us back to the airport, and again we laughed and joked all the way there. Klaas was amazing. All three of these people make you feel like royalty while you are there. They work endless hours for you. I remember while sitting outside one day someone say this might be the closes we ever get to paradise. Sandra, Klaas, and Marco thank you for a unforgettable vacation. By the way Marco “I’LL BE BACK”.
