1 Bedroom House in Naxos, Apiranthos - Moutsouna

On the quiet east side of Naxos we rent four cottages built in the traditional way of natural stone for 2-4 persons each. Here you can relax and unwind and immerse yourself in the Greek way of life. Each cottage, with a total of 60 square meters, has its own veranda with a magnificent view of the Aegean Sea. The house is divided with a curtain into a sleeping area with two single beds side by side and a living area with kitchenette, natural stone fireplace and pull-out sofa bed; the bathroom is furnished with marble tiles and shower. Between the houses lies an additional shared kitchen with wood stove and an electrical stove with oven. There is a washing machine that can be used by guests. You can spend the hot hours of the day in a vine-covered, shady pergola; in the evenings you can enjoy the magnificent starry sky of the Aegean. The Meltemi North winds, which blow almost constantly in summer, usually keep the temperatures relatively low. At the beach directly in front of the property or at one of the many other beaches in the area you can have a refreshing swim and enjoy the water and the sun.
The cottages are located on a property of 7000 square meters with vineyards, olive trees and vegetable gardens, from which we are happy to provide our guests with our organically grown vegetables and fruits, depending on the possibilities of the season; you can also taste our homemade delicious wine.
Directly in front of the property lies a small, very clean and quiet sandy beach, where you can also enjoy snorkeling and discover the diverse underwater world of the Aegean sea.
If you like hiking, you can explore the diverse, charming island of Naxos on many old paths and visit numerous interesting sights. We will be happy to help you with information about the history, archaeology, folklore, geology and the fauna and flora of the island. Let yourself be enchanted by the beautiful island of Dionysus!

Summary: Beyond words how beautiful this property and area is. Off the beaten path but well worth it. Astrid was so sweet and accommodating. She brought us fresh vegetables and even fed us some grilled goat which was delicious! The view is spectacular! Definitely recommend this place! 5 stars in our book!

Summary: It’s hard to imagine a more beautiful spot. It’s all the way across the island from the port of Naxos, about an hour’s drive. The house itself was charming, with a view not to be believed. The little beach was steps outside the door. There’s a small town on the water less than 10 minutes away with the most lovely and friendly taverna which serves seafood that they’ve caught themselves. Astrid was a wonderful host, we’d find vegetables from her garden outside our door every morning. We absolutely fell in love with the island, the people, the cuisine…we can’t wait to return.

Summary: This is the place you want to be if you want to slow down, be in nature, and be away from tourists. The houses are right next to the blue, blue Aegean Sea. I couldn’t get enough of the view. Astrid and Nicholas were wonderful hosts. Be sure to drive to Panermos Bay- easy drive and beautiful place to swim. Be sure to fill up your gas tank as there are no gas stations in Moutsouna or nearby. This was my favorite part of my trip to Greece.

Summary: We stayed in early june. The villa is fine for 2- the sea is very clise- you can swim off the rocks in a few minutes walk. You are near Moutsouba 5 mins by car. It hss a couple of tavernss- very quiet in June. The host gave us wine and amazing bread, as well as veg from the organic garden. If you want to escape- its the place.

Summary: If you really, truly want to get away from it all - if you prize authenticity and nature over a manicured hotel/beach experience - if you would enjoy having hosts who bake you bread in a wood fired oven, bring you not only lettuce from their garden, but also local wine and even roses - this is your place. Two kilometers down a dirt road from the tiny port town of Moutsouna, host Astrid's four cottages at Azalas are meticulously clean and organized inside. They overlook the Aegean, and while sitting on your front porch the only sounds you are likely to hear are the waves, the birds, and the occasional farm animal. The property shows signs of being the working farmstead that it is, which I found to be part of its charm. Astrid is a local expert (she has a blog in connection with these Azalas Cottages) and a wonderfully gracious person, as is her spouse Nikos. This authentic, honest and humble style of living is not for every one, but it was the perfect place for my spouse and me to rest and recoup after some intense travel. We loved it!

Summary: They provided wine made on site, fresh organic homemade bread that was out of this world and we picked fresh lemons off the trees everyday and put in our water. Nikos brought us fresh picked wildflowers one evening, how sweet is that. We spent one entire day at the rocky beach looking for beautiful rocks and seashells. The sound of the waves and the rocks tumbling over each other was such a relaxing and peaceful sound. A very special place to get away from the busy life and enjoy the gifts of God! Thank you for sharing your piece of Heaven with us.

Summary: We had a wonderful stay and are grateful to both Astrid and Nikkos for their gracious welcome and hospitality. We visited without a car, and our hosts helped with our logistical arrangements. While we were there we did a couple amazing hikes, swam, and enjoyed the marvelous natural scenes of that more remote side of Naxos. This turned out to be the highlight of our whole trip to Greece. For anyone interested in something a little more adventurous and out of the way, have no hesitation. This place is one of special beauty, and the buildings themselves exude an ethos of care and expert workmanship which is unfortunately increasingly hard to find these days. Our thanks once again!

Summary: We had a wonderful stay at this lovely property right on the verge of a beach. Astrid and Nikos were absolutely hospitable and made us very comfortable. Naxos is a lovely island and I would recommend a trip there for anyone interested in a peaceful & serene getaway. Some things are closed during October like mini markets which is a thing to note if you are going off peak like us so you have to plan ahead and Astrid helped us out with that. Not having too many visitors around added to the charm for us as it was quiet and felt like our own private beach. Weather was still very pleasant so no complaints.
