Summary: Our experience (16 people, extended family with children) at Il Salicone was very favourable. The villa is over 200 years old, so don't expect a modern house. That said, it is huge, it has character to burn and the housekeeper Nicoletta is as welcoming and helpful as you can ask. Do note the pool (which has a wonderful view on its own) is a fair distance from the house, which should have been noted on the description. The location is superb, less than 10m from Pistoia (which has all amenities needed) and 25m from Florence on the highway. All in all, a very pleasant experience which I would recommend.

Summary: This holiday could not have been more perfect for our family. Nicoletta, the owner, did so much to make this holiday everything for the family. We rented the villa for our small wedding. We originally thought we would hold the wedding at the villa but go to a local restaurant for the dinner. We were fortunate to be able to travel to the area and see the property before everything was set in stone. I thought the property and layout was so much better than I thought it would be, we decided to do all at the villa. The owner, Nicoletta, did everything to make everyday very special. The wedding day was no exception. She set up the hair dresser, photographer, the caterer, flowers, and tended to everyones needs. Nicoletta helped with all the translation and set up daily typical Italian dinners for the rest of the evenings. The layout of the villa is WONDERFUL. Everyone had their own space and bathroom but the best part was the dinner at night. Each group whet their own way throughout the day, but came home to a prepared dinner where we could all share our stories of what we saw and what we did. The location of the villa was also perfect. In the mornings we would walk to the train station, about 1/2 a mile away. In the evenings we would go to Pistoia, about 8 miles away and catch a taxi home. The only complaint we had was the time flew by and we would have wished we rented it for 2 weeks instead of one. The entire experience was 100% better than we thought!
