Positive: We were blown away by the incredible variety of mouthwatering food at every restaurant, with Umi and Sizzle definitely standing out as top-tier, 5-star dining experiences! The staff was warm, friendly, and incredibly attentive, and making sure the restaurants, pool, and beach areas were always spotless and inviting. Their attentiveness to detail really created a relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere throughout our stay. Also, the housekeeping team was fantastic—our room was always spotless and smelled fresh after every cleaning, making it feel like a true retreat!
Negative: While we really enjoyed our time at Sugar Bay, the presence of the three resident cats was a bit of a problem, especially at dinner at The Reef. As someone with a severe cat allergy, it was nerve-wracking to see them roaming freely around the restaurant—it made dining there uncomfortable. On top of that, having cats run around the table during meals felt unsanitary, as they shed a lot of hair. Additionally, for an all-inclusive resort, several times during our stay, there were no food options available, and we noticed the Bar & Grill kept changing their hours. If you missed breakfast, you were left waiting for 1-2 hours with no food until the Bar & Grill opened and the opening times were never the same from day to day, which made it inconvenient. A bit more consistency would have definitely improved the experience!
Summary: The resort was absolutely beautiful—staying in an oceanfront room truly felt like paradise!

Positive: The staff were mostly nice- but not helpful during the Hurricane. Colin's bar was great as was the food at Umi
Negative: Some of the other guests were loud, drunk and obnoxious. This was a large group of about 60 people who were together and completely took over the hotel. The staff did not know how to deal with them and they absolutely spoilt it for the rest of the guests, including us. Unfortunately our stay coincided with Hurricane Beryl. Awful for everyone we understand, but there was no direction from the staff or management other than to stay in our rooms- luckily we were on the 1st floor but the rooms below were flooded and we learnt later that windows etc should have been taped up. We even had to move our own balcony furniture inside. I do understand that this was a difficult time for the residents of Barbados, but the hotel still charged us the same amount (US$ 770) for an extra night (obviously our flight was cancelled) which we felt was exploitative given that we had no where else to go and there was absolutely no service. The next night we had to leave and find our own accommodation until we could get a flight home.
Summary: Won't go back. Really expensive for what it was

Positive: Excellent position, all facilities very close to beach. “Reef” just offshore creating very safe shallow swimming area. Very friendly staff. Very clean. Room very nice, comfortable bed, good bathroom. Breakfast excellent. Drinks good. Plenty of towels and good quality soft ones.
Negative: The only things preventing rating of exceptional was the evening buffet which could be hit and miss and a cocktail menu was hard to find.
Summary: Very enjoyable stay, especially the swimming area.
