Positive: We enjoyed our night here, which was part of the Quilotoa Loop. The staff was so helpful and kind, and the food was amazing, but they didn't adapt dinner to accommodate a dietary restriction. The place did feel like it was a little past peak, maybe a little tired, but overall it was a nice experience.
Negative: It came out to be pretty pricey for our family of 4 to stay there.
Summary: A nice stop while doing the Quilotoa loop.

Negative: A bit surprised by our stay given the reviews here. Overall it felt like a place that used to be well-run and now has gone downhill. It lacked the care/warmth we received at the other hostels -- eg coffee/hot water provided but usually cold, showers ran freezing and we had to ask staff daily to fix, nice outdoor seating areas but covered in cobwebs, staff playing videos loudly on their phones in the one communal area. I’m not sure if there is a manager, but they would benefit from having one. We had just come from Llullu Llama, where we had the opposite experience and felt very cared for. Particularly given the price, we were disappointed. Also FYI they only take cash or Paypal (with 10% fee) -- would've appreciated advance notice of this.

Positive: Really great experience! Unbeatable beautiful views, hot showers, laundry facilities on site, llamas, alpacas, and black sheep. Food was very good and the staff were very friendly and helpful with planning transport. The cheese factory tour was really fun and we even got to feed the llamas one afternoon.

Positive: The Black Sheep Inn was one of the pioneers of tourism of sustainability in Chugchilan and have been there for over 30 years old. I first visited there nearly 20 years and was happy to be able to return. The staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome. Very good vegetarian food and hot drinks available. Great place to stay while doing the Quilotoa Loop.
