Positive: Everything except the macerator toilets. Beautiful location opposite the village green and lily pond. Set in a wonderful village, handy for Rutland Water and Stamford. Great food served too.

Negative: Very hot room, limited window opening, noisy toilet system. Noisy customers seated outside with very close proximity to room. Had to ask staff to speak to them after 11.30pm, which they did.

Positive: The location is fantastic. The pub is lovely. Excellent choice of drinks. The room we stayed in was a great size, very comfy bed & pillows. There was a very needed big fan, extra pillows, a sheet which was all we needed over us to sleep. A nice sized bathroom, excellent shower, plenty of towels & toiletries. Tea, coffee & biscuits. The breakfast is excellent & the lady who served us both mornings is lovely, friendly & very helpful. She had it running like clockwork!! Fruit cocktail, cold fruit juice, iced water, excellent coffee & the best full English!
Negative: The kettle in our room was very noisy. We wake up very early & rather than disturb other guests we waited before having our first cuppa. Sadly, the service is disappointingly slow (other than breakfast time). The staff are nice & friendly but the first night the young lad took our order then went back to continue chatting to a group of men sitting at the bar & forgot our drinks. After 10 mins I went back up to the bar & told the young lady that our drinks had been forgotten & she apologised & got them for us. There were 2 other tables eating & it took 45 minutes for our burgers & chips. Another larger group of people came in & then it got overly warm in the restaurant area & we couldn't face waiting for a desert or more drinks. (Not that we were offered any anyway) We chose to eat elsewhere for our 2nd night but had a couple of drinks here before going back to our room. Initially, there was only one young lady serving at the bar, answering the phone, showing a couple to their room & bringing food out so again, there was a wait. When I checked our room bill we had been charged for the drinks the young lad had forgotten to bring us the 1st night but these were removed without question.

Positive: Lovely comfortable clean place to stay in lovely village. Staff so welcoming. Handy to Stamford and Heathrow with great directions from staff with things in the area. Also a brilliant two night stay before flights back to NZ. Food was excellent too.
