Travel Purpose: leisure
Positive: A beautiful Scottish house in a charming village, only about 30 minutes by bus from Edinburgh. The location is very quiet – a perfect retreat after a busy day at the Festival, away from the crowds and noise. There’s a good shop and a local pub (drinks only, no food) just a short walk away. The kitchen is well equipped, which makes self-catering easy. The host was very friendly and welcoming.
Summary: A beautiful Scottish house in a charming village near Edinburgh.

Positive: Extremely well located (20 minutes only from Edinburgh City Centre, calm neighbourhood, well located to go around Edinburgh. Really a nice place. Plenty of possibilities to walk the dog, or let him/her play with the neighbour's.
Negative: Price goes up high during peak tourist season, but that's the rule of the game. You just have to mind that ther is an open passage aside from the metal gate, so you should keep your dog on a lead or keep an eye on him/her.
Summary: Lovely place to go back to Edinburgh, without the hectic life of the city centre.

Positive: The place is beautiful, clean, and spacious. Everything was great except for two incidents that affected our stay.
Negative: First, the host’s dog kept entering our private garden and disturbing us while we were trying to enjoy our meal. We ended up taking the food inside and didn’t use the garden again for the rest of our stay. Despite mentioning it, the host said the dog had equal rights to the space and that we should get used to it coming to our garden and did nothing about it. Second, the host suddenly shouted at us from our private garden window and aggressively banged on the door over a bin-sorting issue we didn’t know about. Although we apologized once we acknowledged our mistake, he continued yelling, saying our apology wasn’t accepted. This invasion of privacy was very upsetting and ruined the experience.

Positive: The Gate House is a very attractively extended historic cottage in a peaceful location at the edge of parkland. It is clean, comfortable and well equipped with a corner shop a very short walk away to stock up on groceries. There are pleasant views and a number of open-access footpath routes across the parkland nearby. A helpful neighbour is just across the courtyard to offer help and advice with any aspects you don't understand.
Negative: Sadly the blind cord in the upstairs double bedroom was broken, meaning that the blind could not be fully opened to light/ventilate the room. There is a bench, table and chairs outside to provide a potentially pleasant outdoor eating and drinks area, although this was very weedy and littered with cigarette ends when I arrived. A quick litter pick and weeding session, and clean of the table-top and this was ready for use - however not all vistors may be as ready to get the Marigolds on themselves to do this. This is a pity as I am sure there must be local people nearby who would be pleased to work as an occasional gardener.
Summary: Quiet home-from-home close to nature, amenities and transport links

Positive: Good location for wedding we were attending - lovely property well done out
Negative: The pillows need replaced, flat. No hand towels provided only one small bath towel per person, should be a big towel & hand towel per person. No bath mat in main bathroom for when you step out of bath. TV remote batteries need replaced - need to provide instructions for the BT tv - we couldn’t get it to work, called first night and still waiting for a call back to explain or resolve! The extractor fan in kitchen above the hub doesn’t work so cooking breakfast set off smoke alarms despite the extractor above fridge being on & door open Patio area could go with good weeding & tidy up - remove dog mess. It would be helpful if you provide instructions on the gate buttons that you only need to press the top button once….it was the helpful neighbour who told us so we could get cars in! A nice property but some more attention to detail needed

Positive: The property was so lovely and spacious, it was in an absolutely serene area and I highly recommend going to see the highland cows. I brought my dog along so it was important it was pet friendly and I honestly believe he prefers the gate house to home now.
Negative: Nothing, the property was perfect for a group of people (there was 3 of us) and I fully intend to visit again next year with a more friends
Summary: Perfect, Serene, Memorable

Positive: Beautiful building lots of character lots of space, rooms were of a good size. Area was peaceful, lots of country walks. Close to local park and shop. WiFi worked well
Negative: Lacked TLC….broken blind in the lounge and no child proof safety hooks. Rubbish/old tyres in corner of garden/patio area. Grass overgrown and not cared for. Please spend some money on decent bed linen, polyester thin sheet covered in bobbles on bed in the ground floor room- I actually went out and bought a decent sheet. No T-Towels in the kitchen, only one shower mat for 2 bathrooms and small bath towels were too small. No table lamps in the lounge or entrance hall to create a warm atmosphere. Not sure what the shop display cabinet was about in the hall. With some love and money spent this property could be luxurious !
Summary: We stayed in the area for a family funeral and needed a safe spacious place for the grandchildren. The neighbours&
