Positive: The food was delicious, the staff was friendly, the owners were genuinely interested how my experience was, the house was very private, the battery kept wifi going without power, The gardens were beautiful and peaceful

Negative: The house was quite hot and the ceiling fan speed is not high enough to keep you cool.

Positive: Gorgeous nature, loved seeing the monkeys from our terrace. Interesting construction, we had 2 rooms in the tower like building. Spacious room, comfortable bed. amazing sunset view from the terrace. Great little restaurant onsite with food cooked on the spot from fresh ingredients. The owner was very welcoming and helped us with excursions and putting us in contact with taxis etc. Highly recommended!

Positive: We stayed at Michael's place for three nights in late April 2026. Michael allowed us a late check-in which was really convenient. The property is very beautiful, many different beautiful plants in the garden in diverse shapes and colours. Very cute and child-friendly dogs. The terrace of the room we stayed in has a marvellous view over the lake, including the sunset. His wife takes care of the food and offers a wider variety of incredibly delicious dishes including fresh fish from the lake, tasty meat from the neighbouring farms as well as vegetarian and vegan options (breakfast, lunch, dinner). The location of the accommodation is ideal, not far away from the main street so it’s easy to get there, but still sufficiently far up to have a great view and no noise from the main street. The latter offers great options for food, in case you want to try other things.

Summary: Perfect place for a calm stay in Ometepe, focussed on local communities, nature and amazing food.

Positive: Located in Merida which is more rustic and quiet than other touristic spots on the island, the Jungle lodge provided an amazingly peaceful and relaxing environment, with an incredible view of the lake and surrounding nature, breath-taking sunsets and ample ambient natural noises from the various animals (birds, monkeys, etc.) to create a real « Jungle » atmosphere. On top of that, our host Maykel and his family were extremely helpful, organizing a kayak trip and a hike to the nearby Maderas volcano within just a few minutes of us asking him about it, connecting us with local guides/businesses. The food served at the Jungle was also excellent, with a great variety of options for breakfast lunch and dinner. Even then, there are plenty of restaurants nearby (within a few minutes walking distance), two of which we tried and had a great experience (El Imperio and El Pescadito). Our 3-nights stay as a couple felt like a real escape in an amazingly beautiful and calm environment which we would recommend to anyone looking for a more unique experience than the typical party place accommodations

Negative: The only caveat is that Merida is further from Moyogalpa (ferry landing) than other communes, so getting there is a little longer but otherwise no issues

Summary: a true jungle oasis with amazing hosts, food and natural beauty

Positive: The Jungle was an amazing experience! The hosts were incredibly friendly and made our stay wonderful. When my friend burned herself on the scooter, the host immediately went to the pharmacy to get a cream for her. And his wife’s cooking is incredible!
