Travel Purpose: leisure
Positive: Set in beautiful location
Negative: Had to change my original room due to smell of fat from extractor outside window. Next bedroom was ok except for crumbs or at least I think they were on duvet and blood stains on main sheet that had obviously not come out in wash previously. Mould around bath and hole where broken tile had come away. Evening meal had your Berger which was so hard and couldn’t eat it and wine overpriced. Had massage in Spa which was totally inadequate. Paid for neck and back 25 mins. It certainly didn’t last that long ( checked watch ) and my neck wasn’t touched. All in all a very dissatisfying session and again certainly not worth it
Summary: Extreamly disappointing having driven up from Kent that day

Positive: A beautiful old country house. located 10 minutes from the A1 in a lovely small village. The hotel's public areas were nice and cozy and comfortable, The dining room and lounge area were particularly pleasant and there was a gorgeous, well kept garden area to sit outside, with plenty of tables and chairs. The staff were friendly and courteous. I only stayed one night so did not use any of the spa facilities etc.
Negative: the areas where the guest rooms were located were very tired, very tired paintwork, decor and the room doors were in serious need for refurbishment. The room I stay in(4) although it was clean and quite large it was very tired, the wooden furniture was shabby and the bathroom although it had been cleaned again the lack of maintenance was ver evident. peeling mdc furniture and back mouldy sealant around the bath. The bottom shower screen seal again was black and green mould. Having one of these screens myself this is an easy fix to remove and clean before putting back on. I did report this to reception staff who noted it to pass on to maintenance.
Summary: one night stay pleasant enough but with some maintenance issues in bedroom.

Positive: The hotel was very dog friendly with the exception of the restaurant however the bar also serves food. The staff were incredibly friendly, food was amazing, the room was comfortable, well equipped and clean with a good bathroom. Locatcion wise your 8 minutes by car away from town and there's a holiday park with farm shop and restaurant that's a 17 minute walk from the hotel. Perfect little weekend getaway, highly recommend.
Negative: The bar could do with a better lager selection.
Summary: Book it...
