Positive: The hotel is very elegant and has a great feel to it. The staff could not have been more helpful - particularly the Manager. The room was delightful - beautifully decorated and furnished with a four poster bed and a sofa. The room looked out over the High Street, although it was very well sound-proofed and we slept very well. The room had beautiful traditional windows which made the room lovely and light in the daytime, with shutters and good curtains to provide blackout, The bed was OK. The bathroom and shower were great. Breakfast was delicious, freshly prepared and there was plenty of choice. The evening meal was good - again freshly prepared and tasty. I would have liked slightly more choice on the evening menu.
Negative: I am struggling to think what that would be. The only very minor thing was there were plenty of small bottles of Molton Brown shampoo, conditioner and body lotion but no shower gel. I prefer a pocket sprung mattress but that is a personal thing.
Summary: An elegant, friendly and welcoming hotel with a great bar, restaurant and rooms.
