Positive: A novel setting for a stay surrounded by nature yet very convenient to beach, food, and Cahuita town center. The A/C in the master was very much appreciated on the muggy nights. The kitchen is very well equipped for those who want to cook. Topo is a wonderful host.
Negative: Nothing significant. Probably not ideal for those who are more nature averse in their accommodation choices.

Positive: Felt like being in a real treehouse, complete with critters, but, amazingly, still had a sealed off bedroom with A/C, which was a delightful escape at night. It is super nice and very clean for being open to the air, with really large living spaces to relax in. Spacious, beautiful and comfortable.

Positive: A family of sloths visited us - with a very wee baby! A howler monkey came down to investigate - watching us from a tree. The howlers were great! Red dart frogs everywhere. A beautiful toucan came through. The pond is full of guppies! Agouti frequent the grounds, and a family of birds live by the pond. Good time of year - we slept in the open areas and didn't get harassed by bugs. A short walk to the beach and to restaurants, bars.
Negative: The plumbing has a squeal and resonates throughout the treehouse. We ended up running water to eliminate it. Water pressure at shower is painfully low. The couch was not the most comfortable. But really, you're in a treehouse, we get that. And loved it!

Negative: As the owner of Topos Treehouse might want to re-locate Google Maps pin for Topos Treehouse. Shuttle couldn’t find us for pickup. But they did and all is well.

Positive: Unique property. Topo is a wonderful host who greeted us and gave recommendations for places to eat and visit. Thoughtful touches included a welcome fruit selection and drinks. The treehouse is spacious and was spotlessly clean. We loved the hammocks. The treehouse is 5 minutes walk to the black sand beach. The Cahuita National Park with monkeys, sloths and a beautiful white sand beach is definitely worth visiting.
Negative: The twin room is quite compact. However, my daughters didn’t seem to mind.

Positive: Authentic treehouse in tropical setting, surrounded by wildlife and a minute walk from the beach. Has all amenities you need: kitchen, flushing toilets & hot shower. Topo warmly welcomed us to this private location and had a beer waiting for us in the fridge!
Negative: We went in rainiy November, so clothes were a little damp and towels difficult to dry out. If you are a hairdryer girl or need a tv, this is not the place for you! You will be with nature! Bats, bugs, howling monkeys etc!
Summary: Worth the drive from San José!

Positive: If you are the adventurous type or you just want a new experience for your trip to Costa Rica this is the treehouse for you! It is a unique accommodation that totally wowed my daughter and granddaughter, my husband, and I! From the sloths literally hanging out on the trees in our garden to the howling monkeys, all the various birds feeding in the beautiful pond to lazing on the hammocks…..it was a dream come true especially for our girls. The literal huge ficus tree towers through the main living areas with open decks all around for viewing and listening for the wildlife. The 2 beautiful bedrooms were perfect for the 4 of us…completely enclosed, I truly never even saw an ant… this is the rainforest after all complete with all forms of wildlife…a big reason we come here over and over. The town of Cahuita is a favorite town especially because of the snorkeling on the coral reef. Luis is the guy to ask for at the dock. Book a combo snorkel and tour through the national park for the full experience. We’ve done it twice and it won’t be our last. To top all this off Topo is a most amazing host who went out of his way to meet us when I realized I’d left something precious to me after we’d left for our next adventure. Thanks Topo again and again! You were kind from the moment you met us at the reggae bar with all our tons of luggage…surprise! 2 young women and my husband and I staying in Costa Rica for a month do not travel light😂 Pura Vida Jack, Monica, Amy and Nicene
Negative: Nothing at all! Just know this is a REAL treehouse lovingly and skillfully constructed by Topo himself over the years. He commissioned artisans to actually carve in some stunning details so look for them.

Positive: Cool experience staying in a treehouse in the jungle. Lots of animal life. Had a sloth outside our window. Great location close to the Caribbean Sea. Close to places to eat. Very walkable.
Negative: No hot water in the shower. Shower was horrible.
Summary: Was a great experience for a short trip. Wouldn’t stay for more than 3 days…

Positive: Amazing place- very special. Large accommodation. Loved having ac in the bedrooms. Well equipped. Lots of wildlife in the garden, we woke one morning to a whole troupe of howler monkeys in the tree above our house and we were able to sit in the lookout area and watch them. Great location - very close to beach and cafes. Owner responsive and helpful.
Negative: Kitchen equipment could do with a bit of a refresh - eg chopping boards. And it's more expensive than anywhere else we stayed - but it was totally worth it, we loved it.
