Positive: The staff were so lovely and helpful. For a solo traveller like myself I loved the company. High Bungalows - the view and outdoor space was amazing. Hear the sound of the waves at night. Has own cooking facilities, stove top and fridge. The main town is 15mins bus ride away

Negative: This might be a downside for some travellers, the insects: mosquitoes and some tiny moths. Just bring insect repellent with you when travelling. It is less resort and more traditional so listing it here for other travellers however this did not bother me.

Positive: The price is unbeatable and the view from the bungalow quite special plus the gardens are well looked after. The housekeeper Dorie (my children kept saying how they missed her when we left) laid out a lovely breakfast for us both mornings we were there and is such a lovely lady and her son william was super helpful too. Another great thing is the location (if you have a rental car it's easier) as you're close to Port Vila but there are restaurants a 5 min walk from Treetops so that is just wonderful as you can enjoy a drink and just walk home after dinner.

Negative: One of the upstairs mattresses was a bit hard to sleep on, but we used our duvet to lie on and used the sheet on top so was ok.

Positive: Staff. They all were exceptional. The Bungalow, it's setting, just a dream with a bottle of wine watching the sunset. Fantastic restaurant !!(Three pigs) and posh french resort restaurant 2 min. Walk along busy road. The people of Vanuatu are unlike any others; we have travelled dozens of countries but not seen "happier" people. Imagine a permanent smile on everybody's face, old and young

Negative: We stayed for one week at the " Bungalow". You need a car ( what we did). Treetops is close to beaches but all resorts and private with walls/ fencing right into the sea, so no beach access whatever anywhere near. We understood the Swedish owner retired couple of years ago, unfortunately the "Bungalow" retired with him. Though it is a fantastic place, it cries out for improvement: No Aircon, not even a ceiling fan ( You need either). All there was one of those swivelling standing fans, not enough at 35c heat. Even to keep Mosquitoes out ( my wife is a doctor & definitely identified Anopheles, we woke up with legs swollen..)(!!) It is not our intention to ride down this property---we even considered to make an offer!..--- but honestly, there is a lot of room for improvement. For example, if you have your own rented car, you need a second person to navigate you around the impossibly narrow driveway so you don't hit the coral blocks lining it thus jeopardising your car insurance. .Exiting from the angled gate onto the busy road is suicidal, you need a second person, if you want to live; this road serves multiple resorts & is busy day and night. The 'Out of this world' Friendliness of the hosts - Mother/ son team - can not compensate for serious deficencies. Perhaps the owner should consider investing... Having said all that, Tree Tops Bungalow is worth considering, if you are into basics, the price reflects what you'll be getting We also had a quick look at the three single rooms available; All I can say is, if I were a Backpacker I would, perhaps stay a night ( no Aircon etc.) All in all, the hosts, local Vanuatuans, were exceptional, great breakfast ( no bacon, eggs, all sweet) but they understood and voiced the need for substantial modernisation/ repair work after several earthquakes.. Vanuatu is truly a paradise, we drove three times around the island, searched out and talked to Elders...
