The house is located in a small traditional village in Tzitzifes which consists of two neighborhoods built on two elongated hills that descend from the mountain to the plain and separated by a ravine. At the bottom of the ravine is a very old stone fountain with trees. The houses are masterfully built of stone on the successive levels of the two hills thus providing a beautiful traditional settlement. The view to the opposite villages are impressive. The village's name seems to come from the jujube tree, which grows in the area. . The current picture of the village follows the general image of the Greek province. It produces oil, wine, carob and abundant livestock products. It is worth emphasizing that even the Tzitzifes was the only village of Crete Karabasis production (dafnelaiou) which is used for therapeutic purposes and kalaisthitikous and is now produced in small quantities by a single successor of this popular tradition.
