4 Bedroom House in Cleveland

This beautiful mountain home is nestled high in the Blue Ridge Mountains surrounded by two gentle streams on 26 private, wooded acres. It is adjacent to DuPont State Forest, Jones Gap and Caesar's Head State Parks, a part of the 10,000-acre protected environment for many rare and endangered plant and animal species known as the Mountain Bridge Wilderness. Hiking and mountain biking trails abound here and in the nearby DuPont State Forest and Pisgah National Forest.
The house itself has the warmth and charm of gentler times when families from Greenville came to the mountains to escape summer’s heat and humidity. It has since been thoroughly reconstructed with the installation of a gourmet kitchen, totally new infrastructure including new bathrooms, central heating and air conditioning. We call it “Pentimento” because the charm of the old subtly shines through the new.
There is a master suite with a king-sized bed and adjacent full bath on the first floor. Upstairs, a second master suite has a king-sized bed, a private full bath and walk-in closet. Two more bedrooms, one with a queen-sized bed and the other with two double beds, share a third full bath.
The house comfortably sleeps three or four couples, or two couples plus several single adults or young children. The dining area table seats a maximum of eight people.
The wrap-around porch and wood burring stone fireplace in the living room are both great places for gathering family and friends.
In addition to hiking and biking, there are several great golf courses nearby as well as fishing horseback riding, river rafting and many other outdoor adventures. The nearby City of Brevard, home of Brevard College and world famous Brevard Music Center, offers great restaurants, arts and crafts and shopping. There are many summer children’s camps nearby including YMCA Camp Greenville and its a great wedding venue, Pretty Place (Symmes Chapel).
We’re centrally located to conveniently explore the entire Upstate South Carolina/Western North Carolina area. Hendersonville, Asheville and Greenville are all within 40 to 80 minutes away.

Summary: Surprised my husband with a long weekend with our kids/grands for his 70th birthday. This house looks and is much better than the photos! The grounds around it were so beautiful, like being in our own park. This definitely is the most stocked house we’ve ever stayed in…..it had everything and more. We will be back for sure! Also….we saw a white squirrel in Brevard!

Summary: We were there for a wedding at Pretty Place. The home was beautiful and well maintained. The grounds and property trails were great to adventure and spend time with family. Very relaxing. We felt safe and secure in area.

Summary: Stayed while in town for a wedding at Pretty Place Chapel, and enjoyed every second of this rental! Not just an easy drive to the chapel, but also to Brevard and lots of sights and trails near by. The fire place was so cozy to warm up to on colder mornings and the cabin was stocked with all the amenities we could need. I will caution for future guests that a few of the knobs on the stove may give you trouble so it’s very important to read the directions on the wall and ensure the knobs are actually turned off as it can be difficult to tell when they are. Overall, would absolutely recommend to anyone looking for a warm, inviting place to stay in the area!

Summary: 3 of my brothers and myself took our mom for her birthday and we surely enjoyed it. Just be prepared that you may or may not have internet connection, it was spotty but that was awesome. The house is as advertised pictures are on point. Also, be prepared for steps from the driveway to the porch. We feel in love with it thank you for sharing your home with us. I can’t wait to go back again.

Summary: We chose Pentimento as the house to meet our friends from Texas for a reunion. It was a great choice. Everyone was happy and comfortable - the adults on the wraparound porch and the kids in the “fairy garden” outside. Great location for waterfall exploration, hikes, rafting trips, Brevard, biking, etc. Thank you for having us!

Summary: Pentimento was the perfect spot for our college friends reunion. The house is comfortable & lovely , and the yard is beautiful. It is conveniently located to Brevard for shopping and to numerous hiking trails. We spent a lot of time just being together on the spacious, peaceful porch. We will definitely return.

Summary: We had a lovely time staying in Pentimento! The house is so unique and spacious. The grounds are breathtaking - even in late December! We met our kids there to celebrate Christmas and attend a wedding in the area. In spite of a little rain and fog, we were able to enjoy the beauty of the home and surrounding area.

Summary: We had a great time while visiting the area for my brothers wedding. The house was comfortable for our family. My kids enjoyed the books there as well as enjoying the streams and land around the property. We had great communication with Tom before we arrived. Adam (the local cohost) was great in recommending a local event that was going on though we were unfortunately unable to go. Highly recommend this house!
