Villa Artemis is the ideal place for a relaxing holiday in direct contact with nature, an excellent starting point for excursions to the major tourist destinations on the island.
In less than an hour's drive it is possible to reach the beautiful Malabotta Forest with its enchanting paths and the spectacular Rocche dell'Argimusco, also passing through Montalbano Elicona, elected the most beautiful village in Italy in 2015. For wine lovers it is possible to visit the major Sicilian wineries along the wine route, on the slopes of Etna, which leads to Randazzo, a medieval village, with its countless churches and the characteristic Sunday market. and then take a walk inside the Sciarone Park. Just 5 minutes by car you can visit the Alcantara Gorges with its river with freezing waters even in August and do various activities including body rafting, trekking, etc. Taormina, the pearl of the Ionian Sea, is only 12km away, the beaches of Giardini Naxos 7km.
Located in a hilly and panoramic area, surrounded by a garden of olive and citrus trees, the villa is equipped with all comforts, has two air-conditioned bedrooms, one with a double bed, the other with two single beds which can become a double bed on request. Two double sofa beds are available in the two air-conditioned living rooms, one on the ground floor, the other on the first floor. The villa is also equipped with a built-in kitchen on the ground floor and another larger kitchen, also made of brick, which is located in a gazebo closed by glass on the first floor level with a panoramic terrace. All the rooms are air conditioned, with the exception of the bathrooms, and the windows are equipped with mosquito nets >. Outside, large panoramic spaces, barbecue area and parking. It is also specified that the villa is totally available to guests, for greater privacy and there are no common areas, neither with the owner nor with other guests. With the exception of August, we accept minimum stays of 3 nights.
The swimming pool is normally open from June to September.

Summary: Stayed here with family for 4 nights. Simply amazing villa with so many cool things. A tad rustic in some ways but it’s really part of the charm of the property. Our host was super friendly and helpful and even took us for dinner and groceries upon arrival. The drive to the property is a bit tricky and takes some getting used to, but adds to the experience and charm. I can not wait to come back to this property.

Summary: The location is absolutely stunning: you can see the Mediterranean Sea and Etna from your balcony. Very quiet and peaceful neighbourhood and our hosts were one minute walk away. They made us feel so welcome, even invited us to their own home and shared their home produced, wonderful red wine. Francesco has brought us a wonderful cake, gave us eggs (he has a few chickens and rabbits). Giovanna and Francesco both gave us accurate and very helpful information, so we could enjoy everything Sicily offers - amazing local market, cultural and architectural highlights, the best beaches and even a local running trail in the pine forest of Graniti. Francesco and Giovanna have been the best hosts. We highly recommend their villa if you want to have the perfect base to explore Sicily. The air conditioning, the pool, well kitted out kitchen all helped to make or stay a beautiful holiday.

Summary: Well located property for touring the area (Etna Nord and Taormina) and away from the crowds but easy access to the main roads. Excellent facilties to cater for all your needs especially the pool to cool down in. Flexible property able to accommodate large groups. Whilst steep road to access the property it is okay after you have done it once. We had a Jeep Renegade which was just right for size. 2WD is fine also though. Francesco and Giovanna were excellent hosts and on hand if needed and were great tour guides! We had a wonderful 5 days and even managed a day trip to Syracuse. Thank you. Summary: Amazing house with perfect location and a very nice view. The landlord was very nice and helpful and the house was perfect for a big family (equipped with everything you needed). To get to the house you had to drive up a steep hill on a narrow road (which was no problems but I would recommend a smaller car). I would very much recommend this house and landlord!

Positives: - Sitting outside watching smoke from Etna River canyon park just up the road Friendly, helpful hosts Negatives: - I wouldn't fancy driving up the road to the property in winter months. Its fine in Summer once you realise that you need to go up in first gear with you foot down to the floor.

Summary: We actually cut our stay short as bad weather made the road to the house a problem. The time of year wasn't appropriate for this property. There was no wi Fi and very limited TV. The unfortunate weather left the views of Etna undiscovered. We arrived back after an outing to a note on the door warning us not to leave for the next two days as a storm was forecast. No communication from the hosts until once power had been out and breakers could not be reset we had a very brief visit to explain how to turn the power back on. Also, there were no instructions for the house or the area left for renters. I have always found a helpful binder left by the owners in the past. There was no pool or fresh vegetables that we saw. Major concern though is the location which can be terrifying on your first few times over it. Definitely something you do not want to be doing at night! At this time of year it is dark very early.

Summary: We can highly recommend this house. We (4 adults, 3 kids 3 – 7 years old) stayed there for 2 weeks end of July 2015. Location was great, quiet, beautiful scenery (Aetna), car however is definitely needed. House was well equipped and we cooked most of the time our own meals. Air condition in the bed and living room was also available. The pool was also OK, although only accessible from one side which also had only very little space for e.g. deck chair. Kids loved it anyway. The family was very friendly and helped us whenever we needed help: recommended places for eating out or not so full beaches, internet connection in the house. We would go there again.

Summary: This was a last minute booking following the cancellation by another landlord only two days before we flew to Sicily. So we were very grateful that we were able to book Francesco and Giovanna's property at such notice. They made us very welcome and greeted us with a bottle of homemade wine, biscuits, bread and fruitand very good advice on places to go and see The house is beautifully situated with fantastic views of the Alcantara valley and Mount Etna. The house is comfortable and very quiet. We had a great time and any criticisms that we would have are very small - the wifi is unreliable (but in some ways it is good to get away from the internet) and the drive up to the house tests your driving ability a bit (but you get used to it after the first few times). My rating would be possibly 4.5 stars. It took us a few days to get to know where some of the local facilities were and we have left some more tourist information in the house which hopefully will be helpful to future guests. A few details: Shopping - I would recommend Conad in Francavilla for groceries as it is easy to find. Otherwise, the ARD discount store in Trappitello (between Gaggi and Giardini Naxos). Tennis - highly recommend the Alcantara resort hotel in Gaggi - very friendly and generous staff and good facilities Beach - ask Giovanna for her beach just north of Taormina (can't remember the name) if you want somewhere nice and quiet as opposed to Giardini Naxo (which is busy) Restaurant - Paradise is great Things to do: Taormina - touristy but worth the visit - wouldn't recommend the cable car. Etna - we drove up to Piano Provenzana on the north side and had a great walk through the old (2002/03) lava fields and around one of the cones. Definitely worth the trip and en route you go through some beautiful villages The Lipari islands - Stromboli is amazing and Vulcano defintely worth visiting. Bookings can easily be made in Milazzo and are reasonably priced - but you need to get to the port early if you want to come back the same day. The drive there is a little over 1 hour (you drive through 54 tunnels!). Syracuse - Ortigia is worth a walk around as is the greek amphitheatre, Noto - a gem Inspector Montalbano tour (Sicily excursions in Taormina) - this is a long day trip to the south of Sicily. It is much more than just a visit to some of the sites shown in the Montalbano series. The tour guide, Christie, was a legend and made it a brilliant cultural tour.

Summary: We had a lovely restful stay with Giovanna and Francesco. The location was lovely with great views. The accommodation was spacious and homely with a great kitchen that was a pleasure to cook in, especially as there was fresh fish available in the village. It was an added bonus to be given fresh produce from the garden.We visited the gorge and had some nice walks near by. The local beaches were good but crowded, we found quieter ones by driving south. We moved on to Syracuse which we thought was wonderful.
