Positive: Villa Esmeralda is exceptional! We were greeted warmly upon arrival and given a welcome glass of wine. We felt welcomed the entire stay. The entire property was exceptionally clean. The location of the property couldn't be beat!

Positive: The breakfast was amazing. It was located in the dining/reception area. Tables were set outside to enjoy your breakfast and the amazing view. The villa was impeccably clean. The landscaping well maintained. The perfect place to relax and watch the world go by. This villa was the most beautiful property I have ever stayed at. Everything was lovely.

Positive: Stunning location with private gardens running down to the beautiful beach and a restaurant next door (not too close!) Our room opened directly onto the sea-facing terrace - heaven! Lots of storage and nice big bathroom. It is a small operation, feels more like a private villa than a hotel. Manager Natalie is friendly and welcoming, with suggestions for restaurants etc.
Negative: One or two of the staff came over as rather surly and unhelpful, especially when Natalie wasn't around - we felt awkward about asking for a cup of coffee to take on the terrace. Breakfast was a bit limited, my husband would have liked to have had the option of a hot dish like scrambled eggs, even at extra cost.
Summary: Beautiful villa, great location, lovely rooms. Breakfast could be more substantial.

Positive: This was our favorite stay during our long stay in Portugal. We loved the hotel. It was clean and spacious. Plenty of space to unpack your suitcase and spread out. The shared living space was very nice as well. The people that worked there were so very friendly and helpful. Natalie made us dinner reservations and cleaned all of our laundry. Natalie and Bruna, that work at Villa Esmeralda, were my favorite guest relations individuals on our whole trip. They was always someone there to make us coffee, have champagne, water or a snack. That was a very nice touch that I didnโ€™t see many other places in Portugal. The view from the hotel was incredible!!! It is just a short distance down the hill to get to the ocean. And itโ€™s in walking distance to two amazing restaurants on the water. You could also walk easily into town, although we did not as it rained 2 of the 3 days we were there. I loved everything about this hotel and would definitely recommend it.
Negative: I canโ€™t think of much! Maybe a heated pool.
