Positive: We have stayed in a few places further north in Tuscany but wanted to be closer to Val D’Orcia this time whilst still being able to reach the Chianti route fairly easily. Villa La Lodola proved to be a great choice of location for this. The house has tonnes of character, our room was charming and Mario and Manuela could not have been more hospitable and helpful. Away from the crowds of the larger towns, there are some great smaller towns close by - Cortona was a highlight. Great value for money, nice breakfast and warm, welcoming and lovely hosts. Perfect!

Positive: The property was absolutely beautiful. Mario and Manuela were excellent hosts and made us feel right at home. The breakfast was great and included home baking and local fruits from the property. Our short stay here was the highlight of our trip all around Italy and was an incredible experience! We would all come back just to stay here again.

Positive: We arrived as guests and left like family. The smell of the cooking and the music from inside greeted us before we even made it to the front door. I cannot express in sufficient terms the warmth, heart and soul of this property and the family who own and run this business. The warm hospitality, generosity and care shown by Mario and Manuella was second to none. Small and intimate, one got to know the other guests. A great option for solo travellers. Situated in a perfect location for exploring this wonderful part of Tuscany. Villa la Lodola is a home away from home filled with eclectic antiques and soulful interiors and, of course, the beautiful family who run this property. No wonder so many guests keep returning!
Negative: Nothing. It was hard to leave.
Summary: An absolute highlight of our 10 week trip.

Positive: Manuela and her family were wonderful especially their dog Pajama. The villa is beautiful and homey. Manuela was a gem of information. She gave us a great rec for lunch and a map for our departure with recommended stops along the way. On our second night we had a dinner at the villa with all the guest which was a wonderful experience. Overall if you are looking for true Italian experience and friendly people this is the place to go.

Positive: Everything! The location was central to all the places we wanted to visit. The property is surrounded by nature and the house surrounds you with warmth and welcome. Our room had a lovely view of one of the several gardens and the extra large bathroom was gorgeous. Manuela gave us a wonderful tour of the grounds and presented us with a perfect breakfast each morning. She and Mario gave us excellent tips on places to go and specialty shops and museums to see to fit our interests. The dinner our first night at the family restaurant a few minutes down the road was exquisite. Comfortable and welcoming … everything brought to our table was flavorful and delicious. With exceptional service. We enjoyed several evenings downstairs in the main living room in front of the large fireplace spending time with other guests. Truly an experience we won’t soon forget.

Positive: We spent 3 days in La Lodola. A beautifully situated villa, perfect as a starting point for exploring Tuscany. Manuela - energetic, with an amazing sense of humor and Mario, who is the heart of this place, are incredibly hospitable. We always felt welcome and taken care of, as if we were visiting good friends. Great breakfasts prepared with local products, fresh fruits and cakes and delicious coffee. The apartment was very atmospheric and clean, cleaned every day. A wonderful swimming pool with a view of the sunset. A perfect stay in a perfect place. I can't wait to come back :)

Positive: As written from other guests, Manuela and Mario are very great hosts! We felt very welcome, super friendly service, everything is really clean and very cosy. We loved the breakfast, we could use their kitchen and fridge, the pool ist big and re-freshing, we will be back!!!
