Positive: We enjoyed staying at this property and the owners/hosts were a joy to speak with. They offered suggestions and were very accommodating to ensure we had a good stay. It is located at the lower rear of the home, on a country road with direct views of the ocean. We could smell the amazing natural floral fragrances wafting through the evening air into the room - it smelled so good (not sure what was blooming, however it smelled so good.) The location is at the north part of the island and you can drive down the east coast to Hilo (about an hour) and the volcano's (about 1.5 hrs) or drive down through the cowboy country *Waimea" to the sunnier, dryer Kona coast - west side of island (1.5 hrs.)
Negative: There wasn't anything we didn't like about the property. It is located off the beaten path and provided good and basic accommodations. The "kitchen" is outdoors and at the entrance to the unit and a perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee (provided by the hosts.) You will hear farm animals from nearby properties and there are very friendly dogs onsite (who mostly ignore you.) The owners/hosts offered access to fruit that is available on the vast number of fruit trees throughout the property. If you want to be in the action or close to the action, then this property location isn't ideal. However, it is super close to the Waipio Valley lookout (note: Non-Hawaiin residents can not go down to the valley, however there is a superb overlook that everyone can access to capture amazing photos and take in the beautiful views.)
