Positive: Wakka was hands-down our absolute favourite hotel during our 3 week holiday. We wish we'd stayed longer there, it's so special. We stayed in a geodesic dome tent right by the water, which was incredible. The tent was well-stocked with a cooler, air conditioning, and storage space, as well as a lovely little private patio. We had to use the shared bathroom and shower room, but that was no problem for us. There is a large Family Mart about 1 km away from the site with everything you could need. We had biked the Shimanami Kaido from Onamichi and were exhausted and sweaty and gross when we arrived. The reception staff welcomed us in with cool towels and iced tea, and helped us get oriented and organized, making suggestions for dinner and activities. Tip: Wakka offers a lot of services, from bike rentals to excursions to meals, and it is worth checking out their website to see what you can add to your stay. For example, their rental bikes looked really nice compared to the ones we rented in Onamichi! We wish we had known more about what they offer beyond what's on Booking.com. This is a full-service facility that even non-paying guests can use (e.g. if you're cycling by, you can stop for a drink at their cafe, or get air for your bike tires, or just rest on their lawn). Really, really wonderful place.
Negative: Nothing bad to say about this place at all, it's amazing.
Summary: AMAZING!!!

Positive: Staying here was supposed to be an overnight stop on a two day bike ride of the Shimanami Kaido. Rain forced us to cancel the ride but we couldn't cancel our reservation. Getting there by bus with all of our bags took some effort but I thought staying in the yurt type tent would be a cool experience. It was pretty cool but I think it would have been more fun if we could have ridden our bikes there. The third bed was a blowup kind of thing that wasn't comfortable so my adult daughter and I shared a bed and that worked out fine. The staff was great, especially working with them before I got to Japan to plan the bike delivery, luggage transfer and bike pickup. All that planning was for naught, as the rain canceled those plans. I was impressed with their quick and thorough replies to all my pre-trip questions. The shuttle service was nice and they accommodated picking us up early from the dinner place we went to, which wasn't that great. They also shuttled us to an Onsen before dinner that was very nice.
Negative: The third blowup bed wasn't comfortable, it was a bit of a walk to the bathroom at night in the rain. They did provide umbrellas though. Breakfast wasn't that great and they charge for a second glass of milk or juice which seemed greedy considering how much the 1 night stay was. I felt it was overpriced for what we got.

Positive: We stayed in the tent. The location is stunning and the food (dinner and breakfast) were exceptional. The staff literally couldn’t do more for you if they tried as they waited on us hand and foot for our dinner and then also drove us to our next cycle terminal the following day as it was raining so we didn’t have to walk. I can’t recommend this place enough!! I’d stay again in a heartbeat
Negative: Nothing!
Summary: Gorgeous stay in the middle of the Shimanami Kaido Route

Negative: Would have been nice to at least have a sink in the tent room. No toilets and showers are understandable

Negative: The path to the rooms could have been more level and better lit. My husband who is a bit older had to walk very slowly when getting back to our room after dinner.

Positive: The location is great. Facilities are modern and comfortable. Very peaceful and great outlook near the water. Staff very helpful and friendly. Nice local food options close by as well. Having free shuttle service to and from public onsen was great too!
Negative: Because we stayed for 5 days we noticed that most local shops are not open every day. It would be helpful to know which ones are open on which days.
Summary: Very relaxing, quiet and peaceful.
