Positive: Location is great, just south of town, so it is very easy to get around from Xanadu.
Negative: Resort is very dated, rooms are very strange sizes which makes them uncomfortable and challenging to move around in. Beds are old and uncomfortable. I am not sure why this resort gets such high ratings, we felt it was very lackluster and we would not recommend staying here. We travel extensively and would not return here. No onsite amenities such as a restaurant. However, there is no restaurant on site. Everything is covered, to include the pool, in a jungle canopy which means everything is shaded so if you're expecting to sit by the pool and tan this really isn't the place to do it.
Summary: Overall unimpressed, would not recommend staying here.

Positive: Xanadu is a paradise of its own. We stayed one night at a hotel next door before our four night stay, and couldn't believe the difference when we checked in at Xanadu. The staff is wonderfully accommodating, and the property is a dream come true. The pool area is stunning, with a bar area, plenty of lounge room for guests, and a view of the beachfront. We had not planned to rent a golf cart but found that it was a more convenient option than trying to taxi everywhere. The staff made helpful recommendations and confirmed dinner reservations for us each night, which we highly appreciated. Shout out to Winston at the bar, who makes amazing cocktails and turned us onto the chicken drop bingo event. The two bedroom villa we rented was located upstairs, with a lovely view of the property and a nice outdoor area to hang out. The nature of the Xanadu-inspired architecture makes for some interesting design elements - both bedrooms were located up a tight spiral staircase which was a bit tricky to go up and down, but staff helped us bring our suitcases up. The rooms had interesting layouts due to the strange contours in the buildings, but they were still functional and very comfortable.
Negative: No on site restaurant. There were no accessible outlets by the nightstands, so we had to charge our phones/watches across the room. The rooms could also use some luggage stands to put your suitcase on.

Positive: The staff were excellent. The place was beautiful and relaxing, very quiet. Far enough away from the hubbub of San Pedro, but close enough to easily make the trip into town for eating and entertainment.
Negative: Kitchen tools (pots/pans/knives) were a bit subpar, but they quickly replaced the items that we complained about. Other than that, our stay was perfect! No complaints.
