Farmhouse complex with 4 beautiful apartments on a hilltop not far from Lucca. The stone farmhouse sits at 600 meters altitude and offers views over the surrounding countryside with chestnut forests, and steep wooded mountains. It is a little paradise from which one can hike all the mountain trails and visit the historical cities of central Tuscany. Gallicano with all facilities is at 10kms, Barga is at 18kms and Lucca is at 50kms. Firenze and the seaside at Forte dei Marmi are an hour’s and half drive away.
This is a beautiful apartment (Capanne 2) with a private entrance on the front part of the cottage, slightly hidden by the corner of a house. In front of the apartment is a small, well placed terrace, from which one has a magnificent view of the Apuan Alps. Inside, a wooden staircase leads upwards. On the right, two steps down, is the dining room with a typical Tuscan fireplace and a bed couch. A balcony divides the kitchen area, including a gas-stove, fridge and oven, and the dining room. Two doors lead away from the kitchen: one to a double bedroom, the other to a bathroom and shower, one step higher. The room has a number of arched windows. This was probably the “METATO” of the house (an ancient Roman term used for a room in which chestnuts were stored and left to dry). Returning to the entrance, the wooden staircase leads up to a room with a double bed and a door to a small bathroom including a sink, toilet and shower. The roof of the room is tilted and about 1 meter high at the lowest point.
The room is very welcoming, as is the whole apartment, which is very pleasant and intimate with its abundant use of wood.

Summary: Lovely house in a fairytale landscape. House had everything you need. Pool is nice, clean and perfect temperature. The beach is 1.20 min drive but also great. Barga is nearby and very nice to visit and to have lunch at paranomic terrace, also the view from the cathedral on top is beautiful. Kind and friendly host easy to reach.

Summary: Everything was fine and the view breathtaking. The only problem, the road is long and arduous. That made the daily trips to Lucca and other places challenging.

Summary: Stayed there in October with my husband and son. The location is amazing, with breathtaking views. Really peaceful too. The house is lovely and has everything you would need for a holiday. Daniele met us and directed us to the house, which was great as it's not the easiest place to find. We were really late as flight was delayed and we got a bit lost, but he was so kind and understanding. Thanks again Daniele. I would highly recommend staying here. Couldn't fault it at all. Just beautiful.

Summary: This home was full of character located in the Apuan Alps, with amazing views. The old farmhouse is divided into 4 apartments and the pool and grounds are shared by all the guests. We could enjoy all the facilities without any trouble. Our host was very kind and made our stay very welcoming. He provided us with lots of information about the local area and things to do. The house is located 30 min drive on a very narrow mountain pass, from the closest town - Gallicano. The caves are well worth visiting and a hike to Calomini Hermitage is also recommended. The facilities were basic, but everything worked and our stay was perfectly comfortable. Internet connection was intermittent due to location. We enjoyed a peaceful and restful stay at this house! Thank you!

Summary: This is a beautiful and beautifully kept property: the four apartments are discrete, so there is plenty of privacy. The pool is gorgeous and the garden well kept. A real idyll. Davide, the owner, is very helpful and has a lot of good suggestions on things to do in the area. The house is absolutely perfect if you want relaxed days in a beautiful corner of Italy.
