Farmhouse complex with 4 beautiful apartments on a hilltop not far from Lucca. The stone farmhouse sits at 600 meters altitude and offers views over the surrounding countryside with chestnut forests, and steep wooded mountains. It is a little paradise from which one can hike all the mountain trails and visit the historical cities of central Tuscany. Gallicano with all facilities is at 10kms, Barga is at 18kms and Lucca is at 50kms. Firenze and the seaside at Forte dei Marmi are an hour’s and half drive away.
This hay-loft (Capanne 4) is separated from the main house and can be reached by a path to the left of the cottage that leads directly to the open gallery of this apartment. Since the path is a bit steep, we do not recommend this apartment to elderly persons. Instead, it is ideal for young couples on their honeymoon because it is separated from the rest of the cottage, and the open gallery offers a magnificent view of the century-old forests of the Apuan Alps.
From the gallery one can access the living room. Also here there is beautiful fireplace and a bed couch. The dining table is close to a door that opens up to the terrace. In a corner created by the wooden staircase upwards, is a fully equipped kitchen.
At the end of the stairs is a double bedroom, with a window door to the upper terrace, and a window where the original, typical windscreen bricks have been preserved. In the bedroom, a door leads to a small fully equipped bathroom. The apartment is genuinely beautiful with the old stones that appear here and there on the surface of the white walls.

Summary: The place was very clean and equipped with everything we needed. We jumped into the big pool every single day and dried ourselves in the sun with a stunning view over the mountains :) . There were many hikes to do around the area, we also went to the sea for a beach day. Cities like Pisa and Lucca are also well reachable by car. Spending a day at the apartment was however the most relaxing, with beautiful views from the terrace and cozy evenings by the fire side, there was nothing missing. As a bonus for my partner, we encountered no big spiders, everything was well cleaned before :) Daniele also was a great host and made us feel very welcome. We are definitely planning to return.

Summary: Really nice and remote location without any distraction at all. Very friendly and accommodating host, Daniele, who made sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The house is well-equipped, clean, and cozy, with beautiful surroundings perfect for relaxing. We truly enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and would highly recommend it for anyone looking to disconnect and enjoy nature.

Summary: We loved everything about this place. The views are stunning. The house was lovely and felt like home. We enjoyed the pool. Daniele is amazing and very helpful. We came to relax and to calm down. This is the perfect place to do this. We will come back for sure!

Summary: We stayed in Capanne 4, a cabin for 2 people. The view from the terrace was amazing, and the shared pool was also in a lovely situation with showers and recliners for relaxing after a dip. We loved eating breakfast and dinner on our little verandah, looking at the mountains and the hilltop villages that surround the property. Daniele was very helpful, picking us up from the nearest town, and showing us the way to the property. He was also happy to bring us fresh bread in the morning. The property is some way from a the nearest supermarket in Gallicano, so it is a good idea to stock up before you arrive, although there is a small shop in nearby Vergemoli (open in the mornings). The property is generally well equipped though it would have been useful to have some matches for the gas hob.

Summary: We have just returned from a great week in Capanne 4. The views are spectacular, and we spent a very relaxing week in Tuscany. David was a great host - he met us on arrival, brought us fresh bread and pastries on two days and gave us great advice re the area. Go to this property if you want to get away from busy life - it is 30 minutes drive to Gallicano, the nearby town. Also, don't expect great wifi and telephone/tv signal in the mountains. However, if you want to relax in the mountains, with views and a pool this is just perfect - we will be returning!
