Welcome to our “Little Key House” – named because Urbanna and our little house reminded us years ago of the charm of Key West. Before your hosts bought and re-opened the Chesapeake Inn in Urbanna, we poured our hearts into this sweet little house, which is small in square feet but big on heart and fun.
With its front porch rocking chairs and white picket fence, Little Key is a peaceful retreat from the stresses of daily life – a quintessential small town escape. The pool, hot tub, and kids toys make Little Key perfect for a laid back family vacation, but the house also works well for a couple or a group of friends. And the high speed internet makes working from Little Key entirely possible – zoom meetings are much more pleasant poolside!
Spend your days reading a novel in the hammock, grilling fresh seafood or exploring Urbanna on foot or on one of our bikes. Our house is just two blocks from Urbanna’s best restaurants and shops, a short walk to the cutest little waterfront park you’ll ever see, and three blocks from the Rappahannock River. And we’re happy to share our favorite restaurant, hiking and exploring recommendations – plus our area offers the best antique and thrift shopping around!
And because your hosts also own and run the Chesapeake Inn right here in Urbanna, you are welcome to take advantage of the Inn’s bikes, kayaks and surreys, and we include the very same amenities we offer Inn guests – toiletries, snacks and more.
But all that is extra -- Little Key House is really the star of the show! Little Key, which was fully renovated in 2021, has a flowing floorplan that allows both family time and enough space to be alone. The heart of the house is the two story kitchen/dining room with beautiful marble countertops, oversized doors opening to the back deck and pool, and everything you need to prepare your favorite meals, including upgraded appliances, a Keurig and more. The first floor also has a living room, comfortable family room, study with a reading nook/twin bed, a screen porch looking over a rose garden, a bathroom with a river rock shower and the washer and dryer.
Upstairs, the main bedroom has a beautiful King bed and an attached bathroom with the home’s original vintage claw foot tub. The second bedroom boasts built in bunkbeds and a daybed that expands out into a king size bed. Also upstairs is a loft/family room with a queen sized pullout sofa and a balcony overlooking the pool and backyard – the absolute best place for a cup of coffee in the morning.
Outside, you’ll find a spacious deck, a pool, hot tub, outside shower and a fabulous double hammock. At nearly half an acre, the fenced yard is big enough for a casual football or volleyball game and the perfect way to keep your furry family member happy on vacation. And our firepit is a wonderful way to roast s’mores under Urbanna’s amazing star-filled skies.

Summary: This was our second trip to Little Key, and it did not disappoint. The home has everything you need to enjoy a respite on the river, with the access to Inn amenities as an added bonus. From the warm welcome gift for us to making sure we had supplies we'd need to take care of our pup to offers to help with any questions during our stay, we felt taken care of and cared about. The home, bedrooms, supplies, etc left nothing wanting, while the large back yard and pool provided wonderful spaces for play during the day. In town, we took full advantage of the local eateries and shops. If you visit, be sure to visit Urbanna Trading Company and Where the Sidewalk Ends for supplies (and souvenirs) and delicious baked goods!

Summary: My extended family and pup had a lovely time at Little Key House. The kitchen is well equipped and the outside space is amazing - pool, hot tub, expansive grounds. The decor was fun and magazine-worthy. It was peaceful and quiet despite being in a small, dense neighborhood. Only 1 bedroom has a proper door and everyone shares the upstairs bathroom. Check out time is strictly enforced.

As soon as we laid eyes on it, we were captivated by its pristine beauty. The sparkling blue water beckoned us to take a refreshing dip, and we happily obliged. Whether we were lounging on the comfortable poolside chairs, splashing around with our friends and family, or simply enjoying the serene atmosphere, the pool provided the perfect oasis for relaxation and fun. But that's not all—there was also a heavenly hot tub that quickly became our favorite spot to unwind. Summary: We had a group of friends meet at Little Key House and everyone was in love with the space! It fit 5 adults comfortably with room for more. I told the host we were celebrating my sister's birthday and that she'd be bringing her dog. When we arrived there were birthday decorations out and a dog bed with treats waiting for her pup. The outdoor area is so cute and comfortable - the yard is HUGE. The house is stocked with all the basics you could possibly need, including s'mores materials. By the end of the weekend we were all agreeing we needed to book the house again next year!

Summary: We had an amazing stay at Little Key during Memorial Day week. The location was great for walking downtown to the shops and restaurants. We really enjoyed the pool and hot tub and the dogs had a wonderful time wandering around in the fenced yard. We will definitely be back!

Summary: We travel quite a bit but this is one of our favorite places we've stayed. The house is very nicely decorated and quite welcoming. We enjoyed the pool and large outdoor area too. The house is equipped with everything you need. Gari was very responsive and helpful. I would recommend 100% - - you won't be disappointed!
