The adorable 1 bedroom rustic cottage in the woods with sleeping loft is so cozy and has all the basic amenities to enjoy your stay during all seasons. Right across the way is the crab shack, a one room mini-cottage with 2 additional beds. Take a stroll on one of the many trails through the woods on this 6 acre, very private property. The main path leads down to a deck that overlooks the beautiful La Grange creek off the Rappahannock River. Sit and enjoy with your favorite beverage- you might see the famous winter swans (Nov-February) or the pair of bald eagles that nest nearby, surely a heron or two, frequent flyers! Or if your in the mood for more activity you can go out on the dock with your fishing rod or take one of the provided kayaks (one single and one double). If you're inclined to leave your private paradise, Urbanna with it's adorable shops and great restaurants is only 7 miles away!

Summary: Our stay was wonderful from start to finish. The home is super charming, very clean and comfortable. In my opinion, even cuter and more functional in person than in pictures. There is a closet in the bedroom and drawers under the bed for clothing and extra beach towel storage, we found that the be more than enough storage. We loved the quiet setting and while the walk down to the water is about 5 minutes, I would suggest bringing everything down in one trip.

Summary: Cottage is small but quant. Stocked kitchen with good storage space. Only appliance missing was a toaster.The bathroom is of good size considering cottage size of 400 sq ft.. The cottage is perfect for couples or a family of four. Love the decor inside & out. Peaceful location with deck & dock on creek. Enjoyed seeing the wild life on the property during my walks. Suzi the Host was wonderful and responsive to my questions. We would like to come back again during the fall. The Davis'

Summary: 6½ acres of lovely privacy; birds calling, tall woods, ACRES of Mountain Laurel in bloom- everywhere you look, including down the path to the fairly spacious sitting area above the dock that has 2 tiki torches, & a table top fire. The long dock has an attached side dock lower down (easier to get into the kayaks) though Suzi let us know in advance that one of its floats had a leak so was unstable. Suzi was very responsive whenever I reached out to her which was great. The main dock has plenty of space for chairs & fishing gear. My husband caught a nice size perch one day, & early the next morning I saw many bigger fish jumping. The setting for the house, Crab Shack, & outdoor kitchen is well done with lights, gravel, flag stones, & a nice sitting area around the fire pit. We appreciated that the fire pit could be completely closed- we have the same one! The house is small which is explained in the write up. But it does have lots of sleeping space as described. Also, the Crab Shack, has its own heat & A/C! The down sides were something I discussed with her that she did not know about as she has someone who cleans for her. I mentioned that there was no toaster oven (as pictured) so we ended up finding a toaster somewhere for our stay. The only other downside was my mistake in understanding how little space there was for our clothing- this is glamping after all. Consider it upscale camping & you won’t be disappointed ;-) In the end- yes we would do this again! Thank you Suzi!
