MI Home Away is a cozy cottage set on 10 acres with peace and privacy, yet centrally-located with quick access to nearby skiing, golf, hiking/biking trails and lakes for boating and fishing.
Our 1500+ sq foot home has 2 full bathrooms, 2 bedrooms + a flex space (sleeps 8 total), and a spacious open kitchen/living room area that makes it perfect for family getaways and group trips. Guests can enjoy the sunset on the large deck and walk the trail on the property to take in the beauty of NoMi.
The space
We fell in love with Bellaire and all that this property has to offer—beautiful views, woods, walking trails, a creek, and lots of wildlife—and we knew we had to share it with others as a restful retreat.
In the winter, spend the day on the slopes or snowmobile trails, then return to enjoy a hot shower in the spa-like bathroom with heated floors and overhead heat lamp. Make a cup of hot cocoa in the well-appointed kitchen and cozy up by one of two fireplaces to read a book or play board games from our collection.
Spring, summer, and fall are perfect for enjoying the large, wraparound deck and taking in the gorgeous sunsets. After a day of boating or golfing, cook on the gas grill and gather round the outdoor table for a meal. End the night around the fire pit making s'mores and stargazing.
IMPORTANT NOTE
We welcome furry friends here! While we thoroughly clean between stays, please consider our dog-friendly policy if you or anyone in your group is sensitive to any evidence of dogs.
BEDROOMS + FLEX SPACE
All six beds have new mattresses and soft, clean linens. We provide a pack-n-play for families traveling with little ones.
BATHROOMS + LAUNDRY
There are two bathrooms, each with a shower (no tub). The larger bathroom has a laundry area with a new washer and dryer.
KITCHEN + DINING
The kitchen has everything you need to cook meals together, including essential pots, pans, small appliances, spices, and cooking oils. There’s a Family Fare grocery store 2 minutes away where you can do all your shopping. When it’s time to eat, there’s a 6-person dining table, stools at the kitchen counter, and a 6-person outdoor dining table. We provide a drip coffee maker and ground coffee and a Keurig machine and coffee pods. There’s a tap near the sink that dispenses filtered, softened drinking water.
LIVING ROOM
The natural light-filled living room has large windows to enjoy the view outside. You can stream YouTubeTV, Netflix, Hulu, etc. There's plenty of comfy seating to lounge or play games together. There’s also a wood burning fireplace for some extra warmth if you need it, and a sliding door to the back deck to let in the fresh air.
WIFI & WFH
Starlink wifi is available. Cell service is strong and using your data or personal hotspot for work is recommended.
DOGS
Up to 2 dogs are welcome for an additional cleaning fee. We provide a food/water bowl, and there’s a ground leash outside so your dog can roam around and enjoy the yard. For insurance purposes, you must include your dog(s) on the reservation when booking.
Guest access
OCTOBER-MAY: You must drive up a hill to reach the house. A vehicle with AWD is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED because ice/snow is unpredictable (we will not offer a refund if your 2WD vehicle does not make it up). The road and driveway are plowed when it snows 4" or more. We provide a shovel and salt for walkways. There's a mudroom to store boots, jackets, equipment, etc.

Summary: Beautiful property with so much space for us each to have our own space and a community area for games and meals. We found everything we needed in the kitchen to prepare some nice meals and the fire pit was perfect for s’mores and chats. Entry was so easy for each member. The dogs were safe and happy too! Quick access to several beaches and coffee shops/markets.

Summary: This home was absolutely perfect for our ski weekend get away! Nuzzled away in the woods with a great wintery view, we had the coziest weekend stay. The house is only about 10 minutes from Schuss, making it not too bad of a trip to head home for some warm lunch mid-day before finishing the night out on the slopes. The rooms/beds were super comfy, they had everything we needed for doing some home cooking, and while we unfortunately weren't able to use it (didn't have wood), there was a wood stove in the main room that would have taken an already cozy vibe into some level of ultimate coziness that man has never seen before! Above all else, the hosts are amazing. They were SUPER responsive and cooperative whenever we had questions and they even had a snow removal service come out mid-weekend to clear the driveway (thankfully, seeing as we got nearly something around a foot of snow while we were there). I know for sure that we will be seeking this spot out again if we plan another ski weekend to Schuss! Thank you so much for the wonderful weekend.

Summary: Liz and Eric are amazing hosts! They thought of every little detail to make our stay special. There’s plenty of coffee (including a bag of Michigan brew), the bedding/beds are amazing, the layout is perfect for a family with kids’ room on the opposite end of living room space, the outdoor dining with grill was perfect with the best weather possible, the kitchen was very well stocked (had everything we needed), laundry is convenient and easy to use, plenty of games for the kids, and the entire place was spotless. I can’t think of anything they could’ve done to make it better. Thanks for an amazing vacation in northern Michigan!
