3 Bedroom House in Forest Dale, Leicester

A beautiful, private, charming, and artsy lake house that comes with all lake-loving necessities! Also close to Killington, Sugarbush, Okimo, and the Snow Bowl for winter fun. A cape-style house with sun porch, library with smart TV, WiFi, fully-stocked kitchen, deck, fire pit, dock with grill and kayaks... Perfect for a weekend get-a-way or a long term rental. You will feel the charm the moment you arrive.
The three bedrooms are located upstairs with a full bath. There is a queen sized bed, full sized bed, and a cute children's room with 3 twin beds. Queen and twins are brand new and extremely comfortable mattresses. Downstairs you will find the library, fully-stocked kitchen, game hallway, sun porch and large family room with a half bathroom. At the rear of the house, the fantastic sun porch has a great view that leads out to the deck and fire pit (please keep them small!). A natural path leads down to the lake, where we enjoy 250' of lakefront shoreline, an awesome dock with a grill, 2 kayaks, inner tubes, and a hammock.
We are centrally located between Middlebury and Brandon, making everything possible and easily accessible including 2 grocery stores, nice restaurants, pharmacies, locals pubs, general stores, farmers markets, local shopping in charming Middlebury, wineries, breweries, a movie theatre, a golf course, amazing hikes and waterfalls in the national forest 1 mile away, and so much more.
The lakehouse is technically a 5 bedroom home, with 3 currently are being offered to guests, though you would have the home to yourself, of course. We can discuss using additional rooms if you have more guests. The house also has a garage, but it is recommended that guests park in the large circular driveway.
This is a very special home to myself and my family and is not for large parties, events, or spring break-type holidays. It is perfect for families (children are fine!) and couples looking to experience Vermont at its finest in a relaxing and serene location. The home stays cool in the summer but we do not have central AC. We do provide many fans for your convenience. Thanks for treating this special place as you would your own! Summary: There aren't many rentals on Fern Lake so we were super happy to find Kate's listing. It is such a peaceful spot and feels removed from the rest of the world. Great swimming, beautiful trees, sunsets, and loons. Loved eating outdoors on the deck. Loved the walk down to the water and the quiet neighbors. Swimming area could be improved only by a set of steps into the water from the dock. Kate's house is very spacious and low-key comfortable. Be advised that this house is filled to the brim with family things. That may have been the only drawback---finding space for our groceries in the kitchen as every cupboard was jam packed. Thanks to Kate for offering a special spot!

Summary: This is a nice property, right on the lake. You really can’t see the neighbors, and the woods are thick enough to make you feel alone. The house is large, and there is a great screened in porch and deck on the back. We spent a lot of time on the porch, breezes were great. No AC, but it was cool enough at night that it didn’t matter. Fans are provided. Communication with host was great, Kate checked in with us multiple times, and answered any questions while on-site quickly. Only caution is about the path to the water. It’s pretty steep at some spots, and is switch back style. My wife and I both managed to fall, as the leaves and whatnot that fall on the path make some parts slippery. Just take your time, although you won’t want to when you see the view from the dock. Sitting there with your feet in the water is a pleasant thing to do!

Summary: Very clean, kitchen is well-equipped, any weekend bakers/cook will be happy. Bedrooms on the small side, if you're OK squeezing, all good. Very clean and comfy. Water pressure for shower - bring a tub and scooper instead Piano is divine (if you know how to play) Lots of good board games, you won't be bored Kate is super!

Summary: Our family loved our stay here! The house is gorgeous and has everything one would need for a vacation. Games, musical instruments and even a Nintendo that brought us back to our youth! The lake is amazing and perfect for kids because there are no fast boats on it, mostly just kayakers. The swimming is good and there are small boats to use. The path down to the lake is very nicely maintained and the lake views from the deck and inside the house are beautiful. The property is spacious with some nice lawns and a good fire pit we used to roast s'mores. Central location in the state and lots of nice hikes nearby. Kate was extremely helpful and always available by text. We'd love to come back!
