Welcome to Palmetto House, a brand new (April of 2024) home located in the community of Wykee Estates near Governors Harbour. Wykee Estates has a spectacular, mile-long pinkish sand beach, a beautiful salt water pool, which you will usually have to yourself, and excellent snorkeling on its Caribbean-shore, with easy access from its private boat ramp. Palmetto House has a new PRIVATE pool being installed in September. It will be completed by Oct. 1.
Pascal's beachfront restaurant with its famous swim up bar is a short walk down the beach from Wykee Estates. Palmetto House comes with a golf cart! Hop on your private golf cart for easy access to Pascal's, the beach, the pool, and the Wykee Estates community.
Palmetto House is nestled in a grove of trees and elevated to create a delightful treehouse ambience in all rooms. The sublime redwood deck overlooks a private garden with a fire pit and is furnished for lounging or swinging on the porch swing.
Inside, this professionally decorated home features a large open-plan great room. The luxurious island kitchen is fully equipped and finished in quartz and stainless steel.
The dining area has seating for six, plus four seats at the kitchen island.
The living area is equipped with a sleep sofa, chairs, and a 65-inch flat screen TV.
The master bedroom is furnished with a king bed and has a full en-suite bath with walk-in shower. The master bath steps out onto a private enclosed deck with a spectacular copper soaking tub from which you can enjoy the warm Bahamian sun or the spectacular array of stars at night.
The guest bedroom is furnished with a queen bed and access to a full bath with walk-in shower across the hall. This bathroom can also be accessed from the great room.
Palmetto house has a sofa bed in the living room in case you have a party of more than four. (Extra charges apply for more than 4 guests.)
Palmetto house has AC throughout, washer and dryer, WIFI, and a complete whole-house water filtration system so you can drink the tap water, and a whole-house back-up generator to keep comfortable if the power goes out. We have a charcoal grill for outdoor grilling, as well as a fire pit.
The town of Governors Harbour, the main town on the island, just five minutes by car from the property, has grocery stores, restaurants, liquor stores, two banks with ATMs, a bakery, gift shops, a dive shop, and a medical clinic. It has a nice little collection of 19th century homes and churches overlooking a picturesque harbor. You can buy fresh fish and lobster every afternoon from fisherman at the town dock. Friday night Fish Fry in Governors Harbour is a street/beach party that brings together all the tourists and locals with food, drink, and dancing in the street. You won't want to miss it.

Summary: This was our family’s first time staying in Eleuthera and Palmetto house was perfect for our adventures. We cooked a few meals together at night, the kitchen was well equipped and a great dinning room table for us to gather around. The location was centrally located for exploring the island and the golf cart was very nice for rides to the pool and Pascals for happy hour. Comfy beds, washer and dryer, pool noodles, cooler, games, etc…this house had it all. We fell in love and can’t wait to return.

Summary: Palmetto House was outstanding for many reasons, first of which is the owner Terri, who made herself available for questions and help if necessary but never intrusive. Everything about the house is top notch—well-equipped kitchen, large capacity washer/dryer, luxurious linens, and comfortable furniture. Even the extra amenities like spices, soaps, and other bathroom items were more than the norm. The location and layout of the house was ideal and the huge porch with porch swing was an added bonus. We didn’t use the community pool much because it was too cool but the ocean was better anyway. This was a lovely home for a laidback vacation.

The house was brand new and equipped with every cooking appliance and picnic supply. Terri was responsive and available for any questions and left us wine and beer and flowers when we arrived. We loved being near Gov’s Harbor for dinners , etc. I highly recommend this place.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: As an Airbnb owner myself I am aware of how difficult it can be to live up to the expectations of guests. However this home really had it all. There was nothing left to worry about from towels, snorkel gear, fully equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and linens...literally better than home! We spent mornings and evenings on the porch chatting and explored Eleuthera during the day. I have never stayed in a rental that was so well thought out and prepared. Not only that but the location was superb! We had originally booked at a different location that did not work out, so we switched to Palmetto House shortly before our trip and wow were we glad! Close to Gov Harbour for shopping and banks etc, but also walking distance to swimming, beaches and Pascals Restaurant with the swim up bar on the beach. We absolutely loved the deep clear blue water at the boat ramp (also walking distance from the house) and we rented Kayaks for a day to explore the shoreline. All in all we had a fantastic stay, and will absolutely be back.

This was our first time renting a home. We are so glad we did! The home is brand new and has everything for your stay. The beach and pool are just across the street and I would argue it's a better beach than French Leave. Everything in the home is brand new and beautifully decorated. You are just a short drive into Governor's Harbor and Craving's just opened a new bake shop just a couple of blocks down the road. This home would be great for a small family (we have 3 kids under 11). Or friends and family traveling together. If you are worried because it's your first time to the island, don't worry. The owner knows the island front and back and she will ensure you have a wonderful stay. Our family is already looking at dates to return.
