Truly a stone's throw from the shore of Lake Superior, this character-filled cabin was originally hand-built in 1945 by Hjelmer, a Norwegian immigrant. Though Cedar Ridge was fully restored in 2024, the design remains nearly identical to its origins, and you'll notice Hjelmer's preserved craftsmanship throughout your stay.
Highlights of your getaway will include a stunning fireplace crafted from Lake Superior stones; a sunlit kitchen with vaulted ceilings, abundant counter space, and new Smeg appliances; and a sunny cedar deck overlooking the water's edge. This woodsy retreat is the perfect place to slow down, listen to the waves, and enjoy the view. If you're lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of some rare wildlife—we've had lynx, wolves, and bears on our doorstep. On a clear dark night, you can see the milky way over the lake, or fall asleep to the sound of the waves.

Summary: My wife and I spent three days at this property to celebrate our 25th anniversary. The owner was warm and friendly, sending recommendations prior to the trip and also a text about the northern lights while we were there. The property was beautiful and spotless. Absolutely fantastic stay!

Summary: Beautiful, cozy cabin right on Lake Superior that met all of our expectations! We spent time hiking the surrounding area that had beautiful waterfalls and trails. Close to Grand Maria’s and Lutsen so able to enjoy restaurants and some shopping. Very private even though cabins close by (no one seemed around).
