The house Smalaskáli (old Name Stekkholt 3) is is located approximately 4.5 km / 2,8 miles outside Selfoss with beautiful views of the mountain Ingólfsfjall.
The cozy living / dining room with kitchen offers a good view over the countryside.
Two bedrooms with double beds can accommodate 4 people, plus there is a place to sleep on the sofa in the TV area.
The bathroom is equipped with shower and toilet.
The house has underfloor heating in all rooms.
There is a Hot Tub on the porch. This is filled with geothermal hot water at 38 ° C / 100 ° F.
The house is in an attractive rural location with wonderful views of the mountain Ingólfsfjall and eastward to Mount Hekla volcano and the glacier Eyjafjallajökull.
On the meadows around the house are always Iceland horses and in the summer many species of birds can be observed close by the house.
In the period from September to March, there are good opportunities to see the Northern Lights.
The cottage is ideal for exploring attractions such as the Golden Circle, the south coast of Iceland, the Westman Islands and the Reykjanes Peninsula. Reykjavik is only about 45 minutes away by car and the International Keflavik Airport can be reached in about 90 minutes.
In Selfoss there are good shopping opportunities with 4 supermarkets and numerous other shops.
Several restaurants and cafés as well as provide services, from Pizza and fast food up to good restaurants. A recommended Lobster-Restaurant is in about 20 minutes distance.
In the immediate vicinity are two larger cottages that can be rented together, we can send you an offer for two or more houses.
In late 2020 we will open up for new smaller but also comfortable Houses close-by.
Please observe that the Final-Cleaning is mandatory and needs to be paid on Spot (100,-€ or equal in Icelandic Crowns)

Summary: We had a wonderful stay at this lovely property. Clean, bright and welcoming with very nice homey touches. The hot pot was fantastic after a 6 mile hike. The location couldn't be beat, so close to all the sites for the Golden Circle. Communication with Sven was excellent. We flew in very late at night and his directions were perfect!

Summary: Overall had a delightful stay. New modern property with nice views. Fulky equipped kitchen and dining. Hot tub was plenty warm and enjoyable. Close to a lot of sights on the golden circle.

Summary: The house was well appointed and beautiful. We visited all the nearby sites and loved our time there. Super comfortable and convenient. Only disappointment was that the hot tub (which you fill before using) didn't actually get hot, just like warm.

Summary: This wonderful home has it all. It is centrally located to all the wonderful attractions in the South Coast. Very spacious, but warm and inviting. The gourmet kitchen was well equipped. The hot tub was very relaxing after a day of hiking. We were able to see a wonderful Northern Lights display with the wide open land around us. Would recommend and would stay here again on another trip to Iceland.

Summary: The house was beautiful and clean. Our host met us the evening we arrived and was very welcoming. The kitchen was well equipped for us to cook just about anything. The hot tub was wonderful! We were lucky to see the northern lights one night from the house. The views from the house are stunning! If this is available do not pass it up! It was worth everything we paid for and more!

Summary: My three adult children and I thoroughly enjoy our time in this lovely home that had plenty of space for us to spread out. Located a few minutes drive outside the town of Selfoss this was a peaceful home base for us as we explored Iceland’s southern coast and made the most of the extended daylight. House is well stocked and listing is accurate. The town of Selfoss had everything we needed from grocery stores to stock up on food for our hiking explorations to wonderful restaurants, banks and small shops. Communication was great and check In instructions were helpful and easy to follow. Highly recommend this place!
