Our house is set in an old olive grove on a terrace overlooking the medieval village of Lagrasse which is ranked as one of the most beautiful in France. The countryside is hilly, with vineyards in the valleys. Sitting on the front terrace, shaded by olive and cypress trees, there are lovely views of the village, abbey and vineyards and down the valley of the river Orbieu to the hills beyond. It is only 5 minutes walk into Lagrasse, yet the house is secluded with only one neighbouring home, screened by trees.
The main room is a spacious open-plan L-shaped kitchen/dining area with French windows facing the shaded front terrace with lovely views of the village. The kitchen area is modern, fitted and well-equipped with built in electric oven, induction hob, double sink, a large fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, blender/mixer, coffee machine, toaster and electric kettle. The terrace at the front has a table and chairs for with views of the village.The dining area has a long table with 8 chairs (seating for 10) and a wood-burning stove for autumn and winter and electric radiator.
There is spacious and comfortable living room with two sofas, easy armchairs, bookshelves, coffee table, free WIFI, CD/MP3 player, and satellite TV & DVD player and video library. Smart TV including Netflix. French windows open onto a large and sunny terrace with gas Plancha/BBQ, garden and views of the village below. The terrace has ample garden furniture and a parasol for outdoor eating. They're a terraced garden of nearly an acre with thyme, rosemary, olives, cypresses and lilac.
There is a further terrace with garden furniture up stairs to the first terrace behind the house.
There are 4 bedrooms; 2 with double beds, 1 with full-size twin beds and a triple bedded room with 2 full-size beds and a pull-out full-size single bed. The twin room has a wash basin and the second double room an en-suite shower room. There is a main bath/shower room with WC and a separate WC.
Lagrasse has good basic shopping: boulangerie, alimentations, tabac, chemist & post office. It also has a number of potteries, galleries and artisanal boutiques. Visiting vans sell fresh fish, meat, vegetables and fruit. There is a charming local market on Saturday in the central covered market place. The village is well provided with restaurants in season with reasonably priced menus as well as a cafe and a small pizza shop. There is a good floodlit public tennis court and swimming, fishing and boating for children in the Orbieu river. There is also a pleasant waterfall and swimming/diving area at neighbouring Ribaute village and many options for walking, cycling, wine tasting and visiting historic sites. The ancient towns of Narbonne and Carcassonne are only 40 minutes away and Mediterranean beaches in easy reach.

Summary: This is an exceptional property. Certainly to best we’ve stated in. For a family with teenage boys it was ideal. Spacious & supremely practical. The rooms have good beds, there are excellent showers, a quiet snug and top class kitchen. Stocked with oils/vinegar/flour etc. (this is most welcome). The Pool is frankly perfect. The parking and location great - 2 minutes from town. (Minor) Downside - there is building work opposite. We didn’t let it trouble us.- best to know though.

Summary: We had two amazing weeks in Lagrasse and I can highly recommend this property. Roger and Angele went out of their way to make sure we were happy and had all we needed. The property is just on the edge of the village with a pleasant short walk to the main street with all the bars and restaurants. It is well supplied with great facilities. Everyone loved the pool. One of the best places we ever stayed. Will be back!

Summary: The house is homely and relaxing. Sitting on the front terrace in the evening sun with a glass of local wine was wonderful. The pool was great and the numerous sun umbrellas were greatly appreciated by all. The best thing about the house was the proximity of the village with all its lovely restaurants and interesting shops which meant our party of eight were able to wander off independently in pairs and meet up for lunches and dinners. There were also some great walks up to the cave and the Roc on the days when it wasn't so hot.

Summary: We had a wonderful week at this house, it is vey well equipped and spacious and the pool area is immaculate. The village of Lagrasse is beautiful, as is the whole area. Plenty to do and see for all ages.

Summary: Cleanliness was generally good except for one thing....waste bin hadn't been emptied in the shower room and there were some rather unpleasant deposits therein... I don't think the outdoor furniture had been wiped down in a while or any sweeping performed and the barbecue certainly hadn't been cleaned by the last guests.. Suggest that the path/steps are lit -bit tricky after dark even with the light from one's mobile... The country-side is simply lovely....we enjoyed Narbonne in particular (market is fabulous) and it was wonderfully quiet...

Summary: We rented this house in July 2014, and are very happy with our stay. We were two families and a total of nine people and it was perfect for us! The house was nicely decorated, clean and functional. It was like staying in someone's home! There was, for example, plenty of spices, etc. in the cabinets. The pool area was nice and completely private. There were also two patios where you had a great view of Lagrasse. It was only a few minutes walk to the "main road" where there were several cozy restaurants, a pharmacy, a bakery (open 7-20) and a shop. In the village, there was also the opportunity to buy handicrafts such as pottery and art. The entire village of Lagrasse is magically beautiful! A morning walk along the river is good for the soul! Just below the house was a football field and our sons went down there every night and played. There were also other children and they formed teams and had fun. The shop in town has a rather small range so you have to drive about 15-20 minutes to a big supermarket. We were also to visit some wineries nearby and they were easy to find! We had (both adults and children) a wonderful holiday and we can really recommend this house and Lagrasse!

Summary: The house was as described, clean, comfortable and in good condition with lots of "home comforts" such as toys and videos for the kids (and a washing machine with powder!) The owners were very organised and helpful, and there was info provided for everything to do with the house and loads of books, maps and leaflets of the area. The pool was great and enjoyed every day, leaving the cover on overnight meant it was not too cold even in September. The photos cannot do justice to the stunning views and lovely backdrop of the house. The town was an easy 5 mins walk, and the (small) shop supplied the basics on the first day, there were loads of eateries. It was a very pretty town, and we all had lots of fun swimming in the river. We were 3 generations, and we all loved the place. I would not hesitate to recommend this rental.
