This is a lovely, peaceful location set within the walls of a beautiful and atmospheric Medieval house, right on the banks of the river Orbieu.

It has been featured in many Home Decoration magazines over the years and on French TV with Maison France 5 so you can be assured of an exceptional, beautifully decorated home. It is Located in the historic and unspoilt village of Lagrasse - officially classified as ‘one of the most beautiful villages in France’.
There are 2 terraces and an internal cobbled courtyard which separates the street from the riverside part of the house and remains cool and shady, even on hot summer days.
You'll find that the gentle colors of the ancient stone walls combine with a thoughtful, easy on the eye renovation, to create a very calm and relaxing atmosphere for your holiday.
The house has direct access out to the riverside and is just a few steps from the covered market square at the very heart of the village.
The apartment is on the 1st floor with the exceptionally large west facing terrace above. From there you will have views over the river, the iconic medieval stone bridge & the hills opposite. It is partly covered to provide shade and has loungers, chairs and a sofa for the times you are relaxing and not exploring the surrounding area. There is a BBQ and sink for your alfresco dining.
The other terrace is directly off the kitchen and looks into the characterful, courtyard in the center of the property below.
Access to the apartment is through the courtyard and up the spiral staircase. If you have any concerns about accessibility due to the mobility of any member in your party, please contact me first and I'll happily talk you through.
The accommodation is for 6/7 but please ask if you are a party of 7 first.
3 bedrooms. Each has its own bath or shower room and good, comfortable mattresses with high quality pure cotton linens. These will be supplied if you are a traveller from overseas but if you are travelling from within France I request that you supply your own sheets and towels. This also reduces Covid transmission risks.
The 2 double rooms are on the riverside so you can fall asleep to the gentle sounds of the water trickling by. One has the option of being either a twin or a large double room depending on your particular requirements. The 3rd bedroom is up the stairs leading off the living-room. It is a twin & looks onto the courtyard.
Lagrasse is urrounded by vineyards, olive groves and the scent of pine, thyme and rosemary wafting from the surrounding hills. Particularly famous for its 8th Century Abbey and the many cultural events hosted there. It is perfectly located for you to explore the wild and beautiful countryside, the Cathar Castles, the Canal du Midi, the Citadel at Carcassonne, the Mediterranean beaches, the Pyrenees and is only two hours from the Spanish border.
The house is located such that you can easily be part of nearby activities or enjoy quiet relaxing time on the largest terrace in the village!
There are several excellent restaurants, a couple of bars, a baker, Pharmacy, Post Office, 2 doctors, a newsagent & numerous local artisan shops and galleries.
Swim in the river, go for a leisurely walk, a bike ride, sample oysters freshly plucked from the sea in Leucate, or simply relax & watch the sun go down.
Linen & towels are included if travelling from overseas. Hairdryer & iron also provided.

Summary: Nicole’s apartment was exceptionally charming and she was a great hostess. A couple of small glitches were fixed immediately. The apartment was well stocked with most of the items one needs like dish soap, paper towels and cooking oil. Comfortable beds and modern bathrooms. Sitting on the deck in the evening watching the sun set was fantastic. LaGrasse is small but plenty of restaurants and a sweet Saturday market. We hope to return.

Summary: This is a simply stunning apartment! The upstairs terrace is breathtaking. The interior spaces were perfect for our family of four, but could easily accommodate a couple more people. It is a really high-quality, sensitive refurbishment of a wonderful period property in a beautiful village. Easily the nicest place we have stayed in Lagrasse over several trips! We hope to return in future.

Summary: The apartment is beautiful with a rooftop terrace with a stunning view of the river. There is a small internal terrace off the kitchen and the whole place is airy and cool. The location just off the market Square right on the river couldnt be better. We had a fabulous week

Summary: The pictures really deliver what they promise. The flat is a dream. We enjoyed our time here very much. Nicole had sent us detailed directions beforehand, so it was quite easy to find the house and the parking space. The place itself is very pretty. We were there in mid-April and it was still very quiet in Lagrasse, not all the restaurants were open yet. But that was not a big deal. The flat is very well situated, you just cross the little bridge and you are immediately in the green. The charming little market square is right next door. Nicole was a wonderful host and we would book here again anytime.

Summary: The design, style and furnishing of this apartment is like something out of a magazine. Perfect riverside location, with an outstanding roof-top terrace. Owner is nearby, and extremely helpful with all possible questions and recommendations.The town of Lagrasse is worthy of its "plus beaux" title. Perfect.

Summary: I have just returned home after my sixth visit. Lagrasse is such a lovely village and the two House la France apartments are perfectly situated with views of the river and 12th century arched bridge. Featured in design magazines, the apartments are beautiful and comfortable, and both include outdoor spaces for enjoying the lovely setting by the river. The three-bedroom apartment has a huge terrace, partially covered and with dining and lounging areas overlooking the river, that you may never want to leave. Just go, it really is wonderful! You’ll likely become a repeat visitor, too.

Summary: Couldn't really imagine a better home base for a relaxing week in the south of France. Lagrasse itself is lovely, with a few nice local restaurants and shops, and good hikes just outside of town. The house itself is really comfortable, with beautiful finishes and a great terrace upstairs. Each bedroom had an en-suite, which was also a plus. Nicole was super helpful, and gave us good tips for the area, and helped us make reservations at a local restaurant. I cannot wait to come back. David
