5 Bedroom Villa in Santo Estevao, Tavira

Casa Funda is a large, elegant villa 4 kms from the enchanting town of Tavira with private pool and terraces sitting on 6000sq metres (roughly 1.4 acres) of grounds with olive, carob, orange and lemon trees, bougainvillea, palms and yuccas. It is tailor-made for larger families: two or three families holidaying together, or one family including Granny, Grampy, aunts and uncles. The property has 5 bedrooms, ALL WITH AIR CONDITIONING, one of which is a very large studio flat complete with second kitchen and bathroom and three single beds, attached to the property but with separate entrance. The studio is never let separately. The main house and its 4 bedrooms all have mosquito screens. In the main house there is a large drawing room with flat screen TV and a brand new (as of June 2017) satellite box which gives you all the major UK channels as well as about 200 more! There are screened patio doors to terraces and pool, separate dining room for 12 also with screened patio doors, fully fitted kitchen, master bedroom w/ queen sized bed, screened patio doors + en suite bathroom , family bedroom with double and single bed and en suite bathroom and two twin bedded rooms. There is a third bathroom downstairs. The studio flat, with its own terrace and a very distant view to the sea, has a large bathroom and kitchen.
After buying the house we embarked on a huge landscaping programme and created a second, large, terraced dining area away from the pool and the noise for reading, siestas, etc. We have further landscaped the garden, adding a fountain/pond feature in local stone, with goldfish, and planting more fruit trees, bamboo, bougainvillea etc. There is a once-a-week gardening service and the pool is serviced twice a week in the high season.
We have upgraded the house by installing air conditioning, a huge flat screen television, internet access, new curtains etc. In 2015 I had screens put in for all the windows and doors downstairs. In 2016 the downstairs bathrooms were also screened. In November 2019 we installed a new, electric hot water boiler in the kitchen so no more risk of running out of bottled gas during your stay.

Summary: We recently concluded our 20-day stay at Casa Funda, and I wanted to take a moment to express our sincere gratitude for the hospitality and support provided by Elsa and her husband, and the owner Mrs Uschi Our time in Tavira was delightful, and despite the heat, we thoroughly enjoyed the town, the nights and the beautiful surroundings with our three small dogs. The visits to Vila Real of Santo Antonio nearby were also mesmerizing! Our experience was overall very positive, and I recommend this lovely home for future travelers with dogs !

Summary: The villa is Fantastic, Traditional, homely and classy. The pool, BBQ area and veranda were ideal and close to great local restaurants and shops plus the beautiful Tavira. Would highly recommend for a Family Holiday, we would definitely come back. special mention for Elsa and Hugo who gave us a lovely warm welcome after a long days travel and some great advice on where to eat and visit.

Summary: We had an enjoyable 2 weeks staying at Casa Funda. We were 2 families and there was plenty of room. It was lovely having the pool and suited all age groups as there were great steps in the shallow end but also the deep end was deep enough for diving and jumping in. As the weather was so hot we’d often go in to Tavira (short drive from the villa) in the morning when it was cooler and then spend the afternoon in the pool or relaxing on the sun loungers. We also caught the ferry from Tavira to the beach which was great fun, especially the day there were more waves! The villa also has a second Terrace which was lovely as it was often more shady. The outside of the property is very nicely landscaped. As the weather was so hot it was a relief to have air conditioning in the bedrooms. We have definitely come home feeling very relaxed.

Summary: The villa is lovely. We especially enjoyed the pool area, the quiet, and being surrounded by nature. It is close enough to Tavira (a 5 minute drive) so it's also easy to visit the surrounding beaches. We were also happy with the facilities: there is plenty of area, 2 nice barbecues, the kitchen is well equipped, the A/C works well in all rooms, and we could find everything we needed within the house. The kids also loved the entertainment available. The host, Ursula, was kind and helpful, provided all the support, and was very open to feedback.

Summary: We were at Casa Funda with a group of friends. The house is perfect. Comfortable, spacious, well-equipped. There is nothing missing. A beautiful large garden with manicured plants and a wonderful, large swimming pool, which is a relaxation on hot days. We spent a great Portuguese holiday.

Summary: We spend an amazing week in Casa Funda, We got the key as agreed wich also included a brief introduction for the house and as a surprice we got a bottle of wine and water. The house was clean and full equiped. We can highly recommend this beautifull house.

Summary: We stayed at this lovely villa for an idyllic week. The owner, Ursula is lovely, she was very helpful and she happily answered my barrage of questions! The villa is very spacious - plenty of room for everyone. The photos don't do it justice. Both the villa and studio were much bigger than we expected and ideal for our extended family. The pool is very big with plenty of sun beds and cushions. There is a lovely shady spot under the trees where I spent hours reading! There are two separate outside eating areas- both with BBQ's- one by the pool and one at the back of the property, both with plenty of seating. There is a large dining room inside which we didn't use but would be great for the colder months. The beds were comfy, bathrooms spacious and the property was spotlessly clean. We didn't use the aircon much but it was there for when we needed it. The location is great, very peaceful and has a feeling of being remote but within minutes you are on the main road. A car is essential as nothing is in walking distance everything you need is in easy reach by car and taxis to Tavira are easy to book. Tavira is beautiful and Tavira Island is well worth a trip. We had a lovely holiday
