Charming 2nd Floor apartment in our family home for rent in the neighborhood of Brighton Beach, St. Michael. Quiet neighborhood yet close to Bridgetown and St James for shopping, nightlife and outstanding dining. Supermarket, convenience store and gas within a short drive. Golf courses also close by.
3 bedrooms with 2 bathrooms (one en suite). One Queen bed, two Full beds and 1 Twin bed can accommodate up to 5 persons comfortably (twin cot also available). Spacious dining room and living room and fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher. Outdoor patio for enjoying the evening breezes. Gated entrance to ensure your privacy & safety. Backyard available for use. Laundry (washer) available for use.
DIRECTIONS FROM GRANTLY ADAMS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
From Grantly Adams International Airport, take the ABC highway all the way to the D'Arcy Scott roundabout (Warrens) where you'll go left uphill along the Gordon Cummings highway. Continue all the way on the highway to the Spring Garden highway. Take the 2nd right off the Spring Garden highway (into Brighton) take the 2nd right (Brighton Beach Road North), drive to the blue house (with white trim) on the right (about the 9th house from the corner).

Summary: Absolutely a wonderful vacation. The property is very clean, spacious and well kitted out, we lacked for nothing within the household. Supermarkets and other main amenities are within walking distance. We also had 3 choices of beaches to swim; the hot pot, Brighton Beach and Brandon Beach, and they are all beautiful. A great location for a family vacation. Highly recommended, loved it all.

Summary: The house was beautiful, large, and well appointed. Location across the street from the beach was awesome! Literally a 5 minute walk to the sand! Only a couple of cons: the house has no AC....yet. They are working toward that. But because the house sits on the leeward side of the island, there is no ocean breeze and air is quite stagnant. This would have been fine except we went during the hottest month, and I was expecting a breeze. Just know that there is no breeze off the ocean on that side of the island. There is a bus you can take, but you have to walk a few blocks uphill to get it. We rented a car. Pros: large, high decorative ceilings and hardwood floors in the house. Plenty of space for everyone. Wonderful front porch, and large backyard. Safe neighborhood and washer available. Clothes have to hang dry in the line but they dry quickly in the sunshine. Kitchen has everything you might need. Cable channels on the TV entertained the 2 year old. Very quiet at night. Our host was just awesome and I’ll miss him. Bridgetown in a 10 minute car ride away, and there is s grocery store jut 5 minutes away by car. The west side of the island has the calm waters (because it’s on the leeward side). Do travel all around the island to experience the various environments. If it hadn’t been so daggone hot or if there had been a sea breeze, it would have been perfect! I highly recommend staying at Lyriston House during cooler months or after AC is installed. Wonderful experience!!!!

Summary: BBD is not the cheapest of islands to visit but we found this home to be very clean, spacious, great and enclosed backyard and a great location to a quiet but generally calm beach. Local shopping was readily accessible and Rascals down the road (5-6 min walk) a lovely setting for a simple meal. Pictures of the inside (i.e., furniture and decore) didn't match what was in the house when we arrived and the kitchen faucet needs attention, but value for money it was pretty much spot on. Steven was most helpful when any assistance was needed.

Summary: We stayed 7 days in this beautiful house. The house was perfect for us. Super clean and truly a few steps away from an amazing beach. Richard (the owner) answered every question I had promptly. His brother Steven lives behind the house and was very helpul. We would stay there again.

Summary: Length of stay: 2 months - Jan 2 to March 1, 2017 # of people in our group: 2 to 5. Ages 30 - 58 Location: west coast, North Brighton Beach Rd, neighbourhood of Black Rock, between Bridgetown &Holetown Neighbourhood Residents: permanent, part-time and vacationers Lyriston house is on the landward side of N Brighton beach road. Beach access is a 2 minute walk across road and down a path. One of the house owners, Steven, lives in a cottage at the back of the property. It was a great benefit and pleasure having him there for questions and his friendly assistance. Front porch is lovely for morning coffee/evening drinks. Back yard cools off & always breezy by 3:00pm for relief from the heat of the day. Mango, lime and orange tree in the back yard. Brighton Beach is in the middle of 3 beaches. Brandon, Brighton & Paradise. It is perfect for ALL swimmers no matter your skill level. There are no resorts on these beaches so you often have the beach almost all to yourself during the work week. Weekends are "busier" with local families, and some cruise ship tourists. But still very quiet compared to other west & south coast beaches that have resorts lining the shoreline. You will never see rows upon rows of rented chaises & umbrellas on Brighton beach (or Brandon and Paradise) If you are looking for "party central" do not rent here. (Go to the south coast) If you are looking for a quieter vacation in a relaxing Caribbean beach neighbourhood, then Lyriston house and Brighton beach are perfect. We easily explored all over the island by bus. Restaurants 10-20 minutes by taxi. Didn't rent a car during our 2 month stay. Didn't need it. Carlton grocery store (12 minute walk away) provides shuttle rides home when you spend $25US or more. We used a taxi to & from airport, when out after dark & to save time when we took day trips with more than one destination. We highly recommend Daniel Jones 246-841-8778. He lives in Black Rock very close to Lyriston house. His car is immaculately clean, he's ON TIME, knowledgeable, friendly and professional. Call him or message using WhatsApp. There's ALWAYS something to do/see in Barbados. To use buses efficiently, look up Route Finder/Transport Board Barbados online. I would rent Lyriston again. It is clean, kitchen small but stocked with equipment, (needs 1 more fry pan) comfortable roomy bedrooms/beds, 2 good sized bathrooms, large dining room, nice sized living room, but it would be improved with new couch & chairs.

Summary: My husband and my three children really enjoyed themselves at this location. We have relatives that lives less than a mile away. I actually grew up in Barbados and left there when I was 15 years old and would always return for crop over but this was the very first time I didn't stay with family and I enjoyed the experience. Having our own privacy was great. It felt like we were home minus the great scenery and great beaches (LOL). This house was great for us because it was so spacious and was so close to all the crop over festivities. Stephen was very helpful. He made sure that we always had access to whatever we needed. He helped me with my car rental when my car rental arrangements fell through. He was very polite and friendly and really kept the property clean. I am looking forward to going back this year if they would have us.

Summary: We were a multi-generation family (grandparents, parents and a 4 and 2 year old) and we stayed at Lyriston for 2 full weeks. During that time we ate every meal at the house - other than 2 lunches - and with the two little ones it was perfect. The beach was 150 steps away - it was excellent and NOT busy and we enjoyed watching the cruise ships each day. The neighbours were fun and Stephen is a gem! What more can I say? We highly recommend this rental and will definitely book it again.
