Summary: We've just returned from spending a very relaxing family Christmas break at the Gordon House. It was our first time away from home at Christmas and we were travelling with teenagers and my elderly mother and I have to say the house worked beautifully for all. Its a very spacious house with the most amazing views. Our children loved the terrace area for sunbathing, swimming and fishing and my mother was very happy relaxing in the house enjoying the views. Marilyn the housekeeper looked after us really well and couldn't do enough for us and we thoroughly enjoyed the curry she made for us on our arrival. The only problem was the quantity of mosquito's which made life a bit difficult. I don't know wether it was just the time of year but they were pretty relentless. Marilyn was really helpful in supplying deet spray and putting up mosquito nets at night but be aware as the house is open to the elements and its virtually impossible to avoid them. All in all all a great trip and looking forward to returning.

Summary: This house has an absolutely amazing view, and it's made even better by the steps down to the private grotto to get in the bay. There's some construction going on across the bay, but we found it didn't bother us at all. Brenda was our housekeeper since Marilyn was on vacation, and she was fantastic. Junior unexpectedly brought paddle boards for us to use, which we really enjoyed. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. We rented a car and are happy we did. The cost of taxis to travel every day is much more than a weeklong rental. The next time we find ourselves in Antigua we will try to stay here again!

Summary: Our family loved staying in this house. The veranda is a wonderful place to see and watch the cove, its birds, or folks kayaking or paddle boarding across on the other shore; the house is airy, comfortable, lovely for relaxing. We loved its garden and location as well as the snorkeling off the lower terrance where we found interesting fish and further out, lobsters (hiding from us under rocks and no threat at all!). We also enjoyed the beach just down the hill, with its warm water, shallow bottom, and two fun beach bars/ restaurants. All so easy and the locals so kind to us and gracious. We loved watching the families play in the beautiful turquoise water. The housekeeper was so very sweet to us. We had a wonderful time. It was our first time to Antigua and we loved every second.

Summary: I stayed here twelve years ago for my honeymoon and you couldn’t have asked for a more perfect and romantic location. Now I have returned in 2018 with my daughter , my wife , and her family and again this place was perfect for a week of family fun and relaxation. As soon as we got off the plane I could feel the stresses of life lifting and as we drove towards the house and Long Bay appeared before my eyes (just a short walk from the property and probaly one of the best beaches in the world ) I could feel all the weight of life disappear. What a fantastic week we had. Thr house itself is a tranquil paradise from sunrise to sunset. The views are beautiful, ,the breeze just enough to ease the gorgeous sun, and a few steps down from the porch and you can dive right in the crystal clear Caribbean waters. We spent a lot of time at long bay, just down the hill , and everyone is so friendly and helpful. We got all our beach equipment taken care of everyday( ask for Jennifer) , they even arranged a wonderful day of snorkeling at green island for us. We ate a few times at Mama Pasta , which is great little Italian restaurant right by the beach and a quick 2 minute drive into willikes and you can get the best ice cream at a great little local shop. The house has everything you need if you just want to lounge about and rest and relax but the island isn’t big so everything is close. You can head into St. John’s to see the main city and do some shopping , go to the rain forest for zip lines , spend a lovely day at nelson’s Dockyard, or a fun night dancing at Shirley heights. Also, right across from the property is Devils Bridge , a must see natural attraction.. I can’t express how great this location is. Whether it’s a romantic getaway or a fun family adventure it’s perfect. I’m already planning for next year!

Summary: We had a wonderful time at this picturesque home in the hills above Long Bay. Quiet, relaxing, comfortable and clean. We received excellent service before during and after our stay. Lost of fun things to do during the day - jetskiing, hiking, snorkeling, even swimming with stingrays! Along with a secluded home to retreat to at night. I would recommend this property and Antigua to anyone interested in a fun and relaxing vacation.

Summary: Just returned from a most wonderful week at the Gordon House. Thanks Gregory Gordon for sharing this wonderful property, thanks Amanda for making the booking process seamless, and to Marilyn, for showing us the real beauty of the Antiguian people. There are many reasons to love the Gordon House. The privacy, the views, the house itself is spacious and charming. I, along with my 2 sisters and mother, felt completey safe all week. The kitties, Carribean and Wadadli, are a wonderful addition as well. They made us laugh every day, and also provided a practical side. The house is virtually bug free thanks to those cats. We cooked for ourselves, and Marilyn came every other day to tidy things up (laundry etc). We shopped at Island Provisions which is on the road from the airport, so we stocked up with food etc before heading to the house. We paid $600US to rent a vehicle for the week, but don't expect a new vehicle. The brakes were loud, but it served us well all week. We were able to swim directly off our property at all times of the day and felt completly safe as it is in a bay not exposed to open ocean. Long bay beach is a 5-6 walk down the road and even my 75 year old mother had no problem navigating the one hill. This beach is great for all ages, gorgeous white sand and gentle waters as well. We took one afternoon to explore St John's, but really couldn't wait to get back to Gordon House. Highly recommend the Gordon House for anyone looking for peace, privacy and getting to know the real Antigua.

Summary: We had the great pleasure of staying at the Gordon House during our first visit to the isle of Antigua. To begin, Amanda, our rental liasion, was incredible. She went out of her way to help set up our visit, supply us with directions and tips about the home and island activities. You could not ask for better service. The housekeeper, Marilyn is a very sweet lady and even though we arrived quite late and during an infrequent rain, she was standing by the gate to ensure we found the house. Marilyn was very helpful and will do as much or as little as you would like as to cooking and/or cleaning. We cooked our own meals, but had her come every other day and she would clean around the entire home and did our dirty laundry. We also opted to forward a grocery list (which was really quite extensive) to Amanda which she forwarded to Marilyn. Everything on the list from smoked turkey to some local Antigua rum was waiting for us upon arrival. The home is just as described and pictured in the listing, clean, spacious, well furnished, very private and in a beautiful setting on the northeast corner of the island. The vista every morning overlooking Devils Bridge was amazing from the back patio area. Three items to note, and I want to emphasize these were NOT problems or detriments, but considerations only, when looking at Gordon House. 1. It is a typical tropical home, meaning it is "open". There are breeze ways in the ceilings, the master bathroom is somewhat open with breeze blocks overlooking the the side yard. Ceiling and room fans only - no AC. 2. There are 65 steps down to the incredible private beach area. So if stairs are hard on you..... Otherwise, there are several lounge chairs, tables, a shaded area and plenty of room to stretch in the sun. We thought it was fantastic. I do highly recommend swim shoes since there are reef areas off the beach and if you plan on snorkling or swimming, they will be handy. 3. The house is home to two adorable black and white cats that roam the grounds freely. Now we are critter people, so they immediately became part of the family. But you can easliy limit their access if wanted. If your planning on driving, I would recommend a small SUV or jeep for traveling around the island. The infrastructure is limited and roadways can be narrow and bumpy. You need to watch for the roaming herds of goats and occassional donkeys and remember, they do drive on the LEFT side of the road. Thank you Amanda!

Summary: I just got back from a fantastic week at the Gordon House. The house is incredibly private. We never saw anyone all week, with the exception of the Verandah resort across the bay, and that required binoculars. The terrace really is the highlight of this place. A big stone deck right on the water and very private. Yes there are a number steps down to the terrace but unless you are physically handicapped or in horribly bad shape, they aren't a concern. The house is clean and well kept and has everything you need. The view is fantastic, though some trees have grown up and need pruning. The breeze is great and there are fans in the rooms - you won't miss air conditioning. Swimming off the terrace was great. The bottom is sandy and the water is shallow. Snorkeling is great if you swim towards the mouth of the bay. Long Bay Beach is beautiful and the snorkeling is great. You can rent lounge chairs and get served fruity drinks under an umbrella. What more do you want? Walking to the beach is certainly possible, though for many reasons I would strongly recommend renting an SUV or jeep - so just use that instead. There are a few mosquitoes (as with anywhere in Antigua) but they were rarely a bother due to the breeze and mosquito nets in the rooms. We didn't use any repellent and only got one or two bites all week. Marilyn provided spray, coils and repellant though we didn't need them. Long Bay Beach has two good restaurants (both Italian) Otherwise buy groceries (in St. Johns) and cook. The kitchen has everything you need. You cannot eat at The Verandah or Pineapple Beach Resorts as they are all inclusive and don't allow outside guests for meals. Rent an SUV or a Jeep. Privacy comes at a price, so this place is 30 min+ from everything (except Long Bay Beach). The roads are steep rough, especially leading up to the house. There are two kittens, and while they are sweet, and a hoot to watch run around and play, they are very friendly do get into (and over and under) everything. If this is an issue, talk to the property manager, and they will relocate them while you are there. Summary - If you are looking for privacy and plan to cook this place is perfect. If you plan to eat out every night and do a lot of beach hopping or sightseeing you might want to be closer to civilization.

Summary: Choose the Gordon House for majority of grooms family to stay in as wedding was just down the street from the Grand Pinepple Resort (wedding site). Pictures truly do match the amenities provided at the house. Although steps down to patio and Dian Bay are a bit steep, definitely worth it. Step right down into bay, and dry off on stone patio with breeze blowing to keep you cool.Gorgeous views!!! Housekeeper Marilyn was not only our cook and housekeeper but also provided information regarding island information. We also were provided help from her daughter (wedding dinner) and was provided transportation by her son in law to avoid driving (on left side of road). Made you feel secure working with people you had gotten to know. Be it the time of year, but only negative is that we were eaten up by mosquitos!! House also has no AC and netting you see in pictures over bed is not decorative- they are definitely needed. We learned alittle too late for us, but we went through 4 cans of OFF and lots of calamine lotion. Something I think management should have been aware of and provided mosquito foggers and candles to keep them away- we ended up paying for coils and candles ourselves- bitten up already at that point. Please check on this condition by season you will be visiting- never too much information. Great place to eat is at Long Bay down the road Mama's Pasta- no mama but great pizza, and seafood pastas. The Gordon House is just across the bay from the Verandoah Resort, and can see back side of Devil's Bridge. This location is a place to relax, read a book and get a tan, not close to town, harbours or night life activities. Definitely would recommend for that usage with mosquito disclaimer. Besides the itching, great memories.
