Positive: Location is wonderful for a restful few days. Beautiful nature. Room (actually two rooms) was brilliant, big and with everything you need. Staff was extremely kind and helpful. Breakfast was amazing. Onsen was very fresh and traditional. Will definitely come back again. Thank you to all the staff for your kindness!! 9,5/10.
Negative: Some of the walls in the room were a bit rundown, could use some new paint. Toilet in the room had glass walls - while you could pull down blinders, it was still not entirely private (but this might be a preference/cultural matter).
Summary: Peaceful and beautiful retreat spot.

Negative: The hotel was excellent – great food, staff, and service. I arrived by shuttle from the bus stop, but during checkout the receptionist told me there was no driver to take me back. It felt like he just wanted to dismiss me. I asked again, but the response was: no driver. Walking with heavy luggage wasn’t ideal. Fortunately, the coffee lounge staff were helpful and arranged a hotel shuttle within seconds. This was quite strange and the only negative experience during my stay. I’ve seen similar reviews mentioning the same issue, which is why I’m giving a 7 instead of a 10. I hope the management addresses this with the receptionist. Other than that, it was a great stay.
