Summary: The house is on a beautiful pond (which is more like a lake) with beautiful sunsets and atmosphere (especially the loons!). It is actually quite convenient to grocery stores and other businesses. We enjoyed the grill, canoe and firepit. The bed is very comfortable, and the bathroom is roomy with great water pressure and hot water. Great spaces to hang out inside and outside. Considering going again next summer.

Summary: We love the cabin on Bear Pond! We’ve stayed there a few times now and plan to go back again this summer. It’s perfect for us. It’s calm and relaxing, right on the water with such great lake access and beach area. We’ve stayed at quite a few places in Maine on lakes, but this is our favorite.

Summary: My family stayed here over labor day weekend. Very cute cabin with all the amenities of being at home. This was perfect as minimal packing is great with a 2 year old 10 year old. The kids loved the little beach and the views from the cabin were amazing. We enjoyed our stay and will likely go back again.

Summary: The beach is very nice and there are a lot of toys for the kids to play with. The lake is really beautiful. The cottage is not in great condition. The old, stained carpets are unsightly and there were many cobwebs and insects in the corners where the ceiling meets the wall. The house has lots of potential but definitely needs work. It does have a good air conditioner.

Summary: I have mixed feelings about my stay in the cottage. While the location is wonderful, the lake beautiful, and the sandy beach just right for swimming, the negative aspects in the cottage were hard to ignore. Upon arriving and entering the cottage the first thing I noticed was how musty the air was. I have allergies to dust and mold so my first thought was to open the windows to air out. I found 2 with screens and opened them only to discover that the windows wouldn’t stay up. I ended up scrounging around for items to prop the windows up. (Airing out didn’t actually help.) Family members who dropped in for a short visit several days later also commented on the musty air.) Later on, with great trepidation, I tried out the AC in the bedroom. It looked old and very dirty, and sure enough, the blast of funky moldy air that erupted from it made me turn it off immediately. (My husband went home and brought back our floor AC to use for the week.) Then I discovered that there was no drinking water, but a note from the owner on the table said that he would bring some by in a day or two. That didn’t happen. While having to provide my own drinking water is not a big deal, I would have appreciated knowing about it before arriving at the cottage. There was no paddleboat to use, contrary to what the description stated. And then there’s the sliding glass doors that are used to access the beautiful lake area. It’s broken, rotting, and disgustingly dirty between the double-glass in one of the doors. The lock is broken so you have to shove a piece of wood in the track so it can’t be opened from the outside. There’s a hole along the bottom big enough for several mice to squeeze through at once. It’s really a shame that it’s in such bad shape because is the main way to view the lake from the cottage. To sum up, I’m fine with going rustic, even using an outhouse doesn’t faze me. But the lack of basic maintenance just takes away from what could be a great little get-a-way. I won’t be going back…
