Positive: The house was very clean and comfortable. We had been staying in a village so it was nice being able to cook our own food. The view was fantastic, and town was an easy walk passed villages. Everyone on the way to town was very friendly. The owner, JR, was very helpful advising us of areas of interest in Honiara and where to eat. This info was very much appreciated. I liked the area as we were amongst the local people. I would be very happy to stay here again.
Negative: Nothing, really. If you stay here, just remember that you are not paying 4 or 5 star hotel prices, so keep your expectations realistic. Don't expect to have air con as electricity is very expensive.

Positive: Had an excellent time in this family run guesthouse. JR and his lovely wife are very welcoming and helpful. They picked me up the airport, showed me around and stopped at an ATM. The room and the whole apartment was super clean and nicely decorated. Very cozy. Big plus, there is a washing machine, free to use and a fully equipped kitchen. Free tea and coffee. WLAN stable. I loved the location, everyday I walked down to the City and met very nice local people. There is also a local bus running, easy to use. One day JR took me and another guest to a Military museum, a shipwreck and some other interesting places in and around Honiara for a reasonable price. I can highly recommend to choose Island Home for your stay.

Positive: The host is wonderful and it is very good opportunity to see the local neighbourhood in Honiara. This is not a luxurious hotel, but the facilities is enough for a two nights stay.
Negative: Be aware you may need to climb up if you have big luggages. But the staff is so friendly to help and should not be a problem.
Summary: I will be back if I pass by Honiara for the future!

Positive: I liked that Island Home was clean and cozy and most of all, it is safe. It is a small family owned place and the family have been very helpful and went out of their way to make sure my other two housemates and I were comfortable for the 3 nights stay. There is also access to wifi.
Negative: I didn't like that I have to find my own food to cook. In saying that, the kitchen is set, if you do want to cook. There are no restaurants or places to eat within walking distance, but the owners were kind enough to drive me into town to a nice restaurant to have dinner on my last night in Honiara which I'm grateful for.

Positive: No meals included, but there was a full service kitchen to make your own. Coffee and tea provided. What makes a stay here exceptional is the family that takes you in like you are part of it. Transport and great tours can be arranged through the host family. I booked 2 days and stayed 7. A wonderful experience.
Negative: I enjoyed everything except the 5:00 am dog howl throughout Honiara. Eventually, you get used to it.
Summary: Exactly what I was looking for...a genuine Solomon Islands experience!

Positive: I liked the privacy and the resemblence of living in a typical island home. I like the fact that it was tucked away in the middle of a residential area, so you are experiencing the reality of a Solomon Islander neighbourhood yet safe, secure and private.
Summary: The stay was perfect, with all the basic neccessities of a home surrounded by nature and reality

Positive: This is a really good budget option in Honiara, a place where even the budget options are relatively expensive. The major plus is that at night it does cool down very well and the bedroom has two window fronts for good airflow. So sleep was always good. During the day when heat is just a reality in Honiara, there are fans. The space is ample and the balcony is nicely looking over greenery. The kitchen is well equipped with even an espresso machine. There is warm water in the shower and decent internet is included. These are major major pluses in Honiara. JR and his family a very good hosts, very friendly and always available if needed.
Negative: This is not a negative for this place, but just some further input. Not super easy to find, but JR sent me a location per WhatsApp before and some other reviewer showed a picture of the front gate. We did not rent a car the whole time, so we had a few sweaty walks from town. But it was also interesting to experience the neighborhood. The Guadalcanal Memorial is not very far and further down it's easier to get a van downtown. On our last day we rented a car which alleviated us from the walk, but be aware that the roads westwards out of town are in really really bad condition.
