Cross the stream and follow the pathway over one of two bridges that lead you to the doorway of Seido-en. Envelope yourself in the quiet of the forest where deer peer through windows and are not afraid.
Seido-en is comfortable with many spacious windows that flood the great room with natural light inviting the forest. The house features a spacious sleeping loft with 6" pure latex over 3" tempur pedic mattresses. Enjoy selected bedroom reading. View the stars through the solar opening skylight with screen above the bed or 3 foot round window at one end of the loft. The fully updated kitchen is well appointed and stocked with all the basics you might have on hand at home. Small espresso pot, French Press, blender and rice maker are just a few. Eat at the counter or low table.
For your comfort there is a propane fireplace and water heated slate floors. In summer the floors can be comfortably cool when the weather is hot. A small library, six speaker sound system and leather Lazy-boy recliners invite you to rest and read. Bathe in the sunken tub with round window view past bamboo into the forest.
There are two patios. One is next to the House. There is patio set, umbrella, chaise and bar stools under cover for rainy days. Down stone steps to the other a larger kidney shaded patio which has patio set, chaise, outdoor shower, cabana and hot tub for your pleasure.
For the contemplative, walk the meditation garden trail and sit in quiet by the stone basin with bamboo water flute.
A 4 minute drive will take you to Stowel Lake Farm for produce , eggs and their home grown and home made fare. From there a short distance up the same road is famous Salt Spring Island Cheese company. On the way to Ganges is Barb's roadside artisan baked goods stand and other farm stands. There are fresh water lakes for swimming and fishing within 5 minutes. For fresh food and liquor there is the Salt Spring Mercantile at Fulford Harbour 7 minutes away.

Summary: We had a delightful stay at Seido-En. It was our first time on Salt Spring Island and we were pleasantly surprised by how beautiful Ruckle Park is and how incredibly close it was to the house. We even saw deer in the forest surrounding the house! It was such an immersive experience in nature. We had a very nice stay. Thank you.

Summary: Seido-en is a slice of paradise in one of our favorite areas on earth, and to say we were impressed is an understatement. Our host, Wendy, was very responsive and left no question unanswered. The property is serene and every detail is accounted for. The location is excellent, near several hiking trails and provincial parks. We felt immediately at home and incredibly connected with the natural world around us. This was an experience we will never forget. If you stay with Wendy, find and read through her binders near the water fountain. This home, as well as the host, has a fascinating story worth reading. We have nothing negative to say, this was a time we will remember for the rest of our lives. Wendy, our hats off to you for such a thoughtful and restorative experience!

Summary: This special house has the magic ability to immerse yourself in green. Kind of unnerving; trusting the forest, certainly exciting discovering its healing freedom and the sounds of silence & natures noise are true gifts. A perfect place to unwind and get inspired. The floors of Seido-en are amazing - they keep you grounded in such a light space. The Japanese design inside and out are done so well you will begin to rethink how you live. No TV, no push button coffee, small garbage cans and no dishwasher take adjusting but then add to the new way of thinking. Bed is a a hidden gem but you have to work for it with a little adventure. So exciting but be prepared for the climb. Allow yourself to unburden at Seido-en House and it will call you back time and time again. You will be lucky to stay here.

Summary: We really enjoyed this quiet, private getaway. The Seido-en is secluded, surrounded by forest. We loved watching the deer daily roaming the property. There are beautiful waterfront hiking trails nearby and a hot tub or bathtub to relax in after. Wendy went above and beyond to make us comfortable! She is an incredible host. Thank you for a relaxing and refreshing vacation!
