Positive: For the price, this place is exceptional! It was clean and comfortable enough. The big highlight is the owner, who is incredibly helpful and organised an amazing trek for us at a great price. The view of the river is just lovely, and there’s many great restaurants nearby!

Positive: My days at the Jungle Life Guesthouse were great. The room was really nice, the location perfect and the owners were really kind and helpful. I did the jungle trekking with them and Dandy, my guide, made it an amazing experience, he was so kind and funny and really compromised to make the best time out of it. We also enjoyed really fun nights playing guitar and singing with the guides and local people. If I ever come back, for sure I will book this place again. Thank you so much!

Positive: I had an amazing time at this guesthouse. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and the location is stunning. The rooms have everything you need and the balcony offers a beautiful view over the river. The food was also delicious, every meal was a treat. The highlight of the stay was the jungle trek with their son Nabil and others. We were so well taken care of throughout the trek. Truly unforgettable days, highly recommended!

Positive: The owner of this place, Alek is super nice organizer(about 31 years career guide as well). He did arrange for transport(tour bus, shared taxi) from Lake Toba to come here(We’ll use his service from here to Banda Aceh). His son and guide, Nabil is an excellent guide who enjoy the jungle tour together with another guide, Dandy. We tried for 2D1N tour, they helped my husband(physically weak) to do trekking till the end. We have a good luck minitoring over 10 orangutans and had good meals(thank you for our chef ‘Anto’). How funny the rafting is! The accommodation(Jungle Life Guesthouse) is located well near stores, restaurants with friendly locals. All in one, highly recommended.

Positive: For our family, Bukit Lawang was absolutely one of the best places best have ever been. The stay at Jungle Life Guesthouse was superb. We ended up staying 2 weeks, so we got a much fuller cultural experience getting to know the owners. Alek is very friendly and enthusiastic, and Nabil was very attentive and helpful. They were great organizers of our 2-day jungle trek. (Which can be physically challenging, but if our nearly 60 year old mom can do it, so can you!) They were hosts who went out of their way for us on multiple occasions. We loved our experience at jungle life guest house and hope to be back.
Negative: Bukit Lawang is remote and the challenges facilities face apply to most businesses there. Keep in mind: During heavy rains, water to the room can sometimes get blocked. - It would be helpful if they supplied a full bucket of water and scoop in the bathroom for when this happens. - Electricity in the village intermittently stops but don’t worry; it usually returns within minutes. - Keep room door shut and waste bin inside of your room to avoid monkeys and insects. Final thought: Please keep in mind businesses in Bukit Lawang are dependent heavily on tourism and the unspoken understanding is that you trek and transport with the people you book with. *Jungle Life Guesthouse went out of their way to help us with all transportation needs and provide the best possible experience we could have had. :))))
Summary: We cried when we had to leave because it was wonderful. Plan to stay long, so much to experience!
