Positive: Incredible location across from the castle. Friendly owners. Nice great room to return to at night.
Negative: Non stick pans in the kitchen are unhealthy. There was no kettle as advertised. Beds were saggy but not too uncomfortable.
Summary: We enjoyed our stay here at the top of BEYNAC.

Positive: Great location with a direct view to the castle and with nearby view points over the Dordogne valley. Spacious apartment with a well equipped kitchen. Parking just around the corner (follow the signs to the castle until the very last parking lot PC2). We really enjoyed our stay here!

Positive: Everything! Sophie was so friendly and helpful, especially with getting a taxi to and from the property, the apartment was spacious, clean and had everything we needed with stunning views of the castle, especially at sunset! The shop was a short walk away (although down a steep hill) and within walking distance of a canoeing/kayaking company from where you can get a shuttle to Vitrac and canoe/kayak back!! Never imagined we’d be so close to the castle - we watched the sun set over it every day :)) The attached photo was taken from the window of the main room!!!
Negative: The only downside to being so close to the castle is that we were at the top of a steep hill with most shops/restaurants at the bottom! Good exercise but in summer was enough to make us very efficient with our trips up/down! Would be difficult for anyone with mobility issues. No public transport nearby so can’t go far without a car!
Summary: Had an amazing stay, wouldn’t change a thing :)

Positive: The host was super frienly and helpful. She also always responded quickly when we texted her. The view + location is breathtaking, the apartment itself is large and spacious, and it comes with a complete set of facilities. There even is a freezer, oven, proper stove, microwave, toaster, and both a filter coffee + senseo machine on top of the regularly expected things! There were enough electrical outlets and even some extra deviders for if you were still running short on them somehow. The furnishing was cosy and vintage/antique, fitting the theme of the historical accommodation. Parking is possible right in front of the building, for which you can buy a week-long parking license for 35 euros at the city hall. You can use this license in all parking areas in the town. Very convenient :)
Negative: While the sheets, surfaces, and utilities were nice and clean, almost all dishes had some stains on them and had to be washed before we could use them. That could just have been traces of the previous renters leaving a mess, though. It was only really visible if you grabbed the dishes and held them in front of you. I don't really blame the host for this. Furthermore, the windows didn't really have proper shades, making the bedrooms very bright in the morning.

Positive: Sophie met us at the property and was very welcoming. She also owns the shoppe below that had a great variety of gifts. This was our 4th stay in Beynac but the first time at this apartment. Needless to say, it is quite magical with exceptional views. Sophie has the apartment quite complete with anything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay and it is very clean and quiet. The walk to Lucco’s Boulangerie Patisserie and Chocolate shop, grocer and butcher is a short walk down and a nice climb on return (to burn off those Croissant calories 😋😊). It is always magical to walk about the Chateau and area late day, evening and early morning when it is completely quiet.
Negative: Absolutely nothing !!

Positive: Fabulous location with amazing views nearby. Lovely host, Sophie who owns shop below, so we could see her if we needed anything. Large apartment, a bit quirky in the layout but didn't detract from our visit. Looks straight at the entrance to the castle.
Negative: It was impossible to get there using Google Maps, which kept trying to send us up these dead end, narrow, streets that led to steps or were just too narrow for a vehicle. Make sure you get proper directions from Sophie first. She ended up having to come and get us so we could follow her up to Beynac Castle, which is where the Gite is. It's not in the village. Thank you Sophie for doing that.
