Positive: Pleasant accommodation, nothing special. Cleanliness good. Nice view from the terrace. Good breakfast. Great location if you came here for hiking. All valleys are easily accessible, especially Paul, Ribeira Grande and Xoxo.

Positive: Perfect location, terrace with an ocean view. Also great location for starting on hiking journeys, and Paúl is a very friendly place. The hosts were very nice and helpful, they arranged for our transport and helped with all our requests. Breakfast was really nice, the host even prepared early breakfast for us when we had to leave earlier. Comfortable room, everything was in order.

Positive: The location was great, the view also really nice! the room was simple but clean, breakfas was really abundant: cachupa plus some fruit, plus some bread and marmalade and cheese....we could not finish it!

Negative: The pool was not filled when we arrived, they cleaned it the morning after, just 30 min before check out....so we could not enjoy much...

Positive: Great new place to stay in Santo Antão. Rooms new with sea views, opening onto a beautiful large top floor terrace with a swimming pool (shared between 3 rooms), with chairs and endless views across the main street in Pombas (the shore of the Paul valley) and across the sea and up into the mountains, one of the most iconic locations on the island. Nice to be able to sleep and awake with the sounds of waves crashing into the bay (not especially loud and great way to fall asleep), but otherwise incredibly calm and peaceful. Very clean with comfortable bed and a good shower with reliable hot water (something that is a bit hit and miss elsewhere on the island in several other places I have stayed!) Family run, 2 floors above their own quiet but popular first floor restaurant where owners are friendly and always with a smile on their face (they also have a shop below and can provide taxi service to hikes). Breakfast in the restaurant has lots of options, only too happy to give me fruits, yoghurts, cakes or to cook me home made Cachupa (national dish).

Negative: Pombas is a bit more quiet to Povoação (Ribeira Grande) with a few less restaurants and bars, although some of the restaurants are among the best on the island, with one or two more highly rated ones a direct walk up the Paul valley.

Summary: New, comfortable, sea views and in iconic location - with wonderful family owners

Positive: Great staff, good location, good value, great breakfast and tasty food in the restaurant they hold in the same building (especially loved the home made ice cream!), laundry and taxi services easily provided (but alugueres are easy to use and much cheaper, although less flexible), felt in a family home. In the end we forgot the passport and wallet in a drawer (!), they called us right away to get it back.

Negative: It's next to the beach, but it's not safe to swim.
