Sit back and enjoy the cedar-clad, quintessential Canadian cottage right on the water and absolute tranquility.
Lie on one of the sun loungers and enjoy the view of the inlet and nature from the balcony terrace. If you want to sit even closer to the water, head down to the cottage's own wharf and make yourself comfortable on one of the typical Canadian wooden chairs. In the mood for some exercise? At the boathouse you will find a canoe, two single kayaks, a double kayak and life jackets.
Afterwards, treat yourself to something tasty from the grill. This is located on the upper floor in a so-called "Screenporch". This is a covered outdoor area, which was completely sealed with mosquito netting, so that you have -even after sunset- peace from small pests.
The weather doesn't play along or it's just too cold to stay outside longer?
An outside staircase leads to the main entrance of the house. After taking off your shoes and jackets, you'll enter a great room, which features a fully equipped kitchen, a spacious dining area with seating for 6, and a cozy living room.
Light the fireplace and enjoy the quick and cozy warmth, as well as the fantastic view through the large panoramic windows.
Behind the living/dining area are two bedrooms (a master bedroom and a room with two single beds) and a bathroom with shower tub.
As part of the modernization work, the master bedroom received a new king-size bed and a new mattress.

Via a staircase at the kitchen you reach the ground floor. There you first enter our lovingly named "cinema room". If you don't like the smaller TV set in the living room, you will find it here; a huge TV and a surround system provide real movie enjoyment; a leather couch for coziness.
Furthermore, the third bedroom with a queen-size bed and new mattress and another bathroom with shower are located on this floor.
A washer and dryer are also available for use on the ground floor.
You are still not really warm? Then use the sauna, also on the ground floor of the house. Also in the sauna and the adjoining small relaxation room, the views of the estuary through the built-in panoramic windows are a delight.
The house, built in 2006, is situated in a secluded location in the middle of nature and yet so central that you can reach the nearest town of Antigonish in 10-15 minutes by car.

Summary: The inside of the house is nice and was very clean. Beds are comfortable. There are plenty of dishes. View is incredible. So what's the problem? About 50 (at last count) large spiders hanging from the eaves of the house. Dangling in front of windows and on the deck. This is not "luxurious" in our opinion. We called the property manager, who was otherwise great, and were told that the spiders were inevitable. They came out and "swept them away," something that had been done the day before our arrival apparently. As you can imagine, the spiders came right back. We bought some Raid, and my husband killed about 25 of them (not how we want to spend our vacation) but they continued to show up. The deck and outside of the property were unusable. Would strongly recommend the services of an exterminator.

Summary: Beautiful location. Loved the screened in poach, especially with all the mosquitoes. Lots of room to spread out. Check in and cottage information pa Kate needs to be updated which the manager tried to supplement through additional al emails. Cottage needs some TLC. Dishwasher and oven drawer need deep cleaning and outside main bannister in need of repair. Upstairs bathtub is slippery - tub strips would help. Plastic shower curtain not the best especially as it had more sprockets than its exterior cloth companion.

Summary: We stayed for almost a week at the beginning of May and couldn’t have asked for a nicer place. The view was unbeatable, the cottage had everything we needed, the beds were comfy and there was plenty of space for a child, two young adults, me and my husband and our Mother in law. The property manager Paula was responsive and great! The only thing we wanted for during our stay was a Bluetooth speaker to play music off our phones, and there may have even been one, we didn’t look that hard. We were there for St.FX grad, and will have another graduate in a few years, we will definitely be checking availability for this cottage again!

Summary: This property was our home for 4 weeks. And home it was. Spacious and homey and the view! I can't give it enough stars. Paula, property manager, was so helpful. She helped us out on at least 2 occasions when we had a logistics problem. Paula went above and beyond. She was typical of the wonderful people we met in Nova Scotia. Serenity by the Sea was exactly that. I would love to go back in the winter. Thank you Dr. Ems for sharing your wonderful property with us. The pleasure was all ours. Tom and Wendy.

Summary: The property is located in a nice secluded area on a lake with an amazing picturesque view. Everything you need is included (minus food of course) so it feels welcoming, cozy, and peaceful. The property manager is very responsive and helpful. The property was immaculate upon arrival and everything you need like towels and the basics are laid out for you. The cottage would be great for a couple of families or a large family as there are plenty of places to sleep, entertain and relax. There's an added covered patio/bbq area as well if you enjoy eating outside, as well as the indoor 6+ seater table. I highly recommend you stay here! We would love to go back again, preferably in the summer time when we can take advantage of the lake.

Summary: Beautiful home overlooking the water. Very well maintained, super clean. Spacious with plenty of room to spread out. Having the dock was a plus. Town of Antigonish was only a short drive away and Cape Breton was a wonderful day trip. Really nice home in a beautiful area. Loved it. Thanks!

Summary: The view is lovely but the house and grounds desperately need work. The house was not clean and things like a bathroom door that wouldn’t stay closed were disconcerting. There were many things that need to be fixed including the bedsheets which were stained and smelt.
