Mad Calf Cottage is a premier destination for romantics, cultural enthusiasts, foodies and adventurers. From the plush linens to the soft lighting to the generous master shower for two, this quaint cottage in the heart of Irvington is good for the soul(s).

Here, you are a short bike ride away from the iconic Tides Inn resort, the Local coffee shop, the Steamboat Era museum, The Vine Wine Bar, Hope and Glory Oyster and Wine bar and many more shops and attractions. Irvington is a historic town on the Chesapeake Bay, home to sea captains and watermen who defined an era that lives on in the architecture and streets and, of course, the menus of the town.

Summary: As an interior designer, I'm VERY particular about the places I stay ... and this cottage will not disappoint!! Upon arrival, I immediately wished I booked a longer stay at this beautifully appointed cottage that sits on a little estate with a lush yard to view if you're sitting on the porch. It have everything I needed, a sweet welcome letter with fresh cut flowers from the garden, recommendations for places to visit, and is close to local shops. The space itself was beautiful and absolutely restful. Lastly, Lara was an incredible hosts!! Book your trip to this cottage, you will not regret it!!

Summary: This cottage is perfect for a getaway. It is beautifully appointed, clean, cozy and comfortable. All ammenities you can think of are there. You can walk to the village of Irvington, or ride your bike. The dock is perfect for getting some sun, reading a book, watch the boats on Carters Creek or go out for a kayak ride. The owners are lovely and are very attentive to your needs and will provide anything you wish. This is a little gem and well worth the travel to get there. We will definitely be back. Summary: The Brown's are wonderful hosts. The property is amazing and has everything you need to rest and relax. I enjoyed visiting the towns of Irvington, White Stone, and Weems. I will be back for sure.

Summary: Mad Calf Cottage was the perfect escape to enjoy some time on the Chesapeake Bay! Lara and her family are thoughtful hosts - in the days of coronavirus, I was assured of their cleaning protocols and was given quick response to the few questions I had ahead of our travels. The photos are accurate - the cottage is in great condition! Not only is the interior designed beautifully and furnished comfortably, I was amazed at the functional details: an incredible array of cookware and utensils, a filtered water pitcher in the fridge, a boot tray and umbrella by the door, lightning chargers at the desk, blinds on every window, a separate bin for recycling, a book of menus for local restaurants, and a bin of board games. Located at the end of a quiet street, the property has a lot of outdoor space to enjoy - we watched rabbits, robins, bluejays, cardinals from the windows. We read books in the shade on the porch. A quick walk past the main house leads you to the dock where you can kayak or sit in Adirondack chairs (with a cup of coffee or a cocktail ;). The natural marsh at the water's edge is a fine example of Bay conservation! We used the fire pit one night, but did not use the bicycles. It was wonderful to have so many "built in" options so that we could go with our mood and the weather. Irvington is a small but charming town. The cottage is tucked away enough to enjoy some solitude, but the neighborhood is quaint and any convenience you might need is within a short walk or drive. We brought groceries to cook most of our meals in the well-stocked kitchen, but did take-out a few times. While I hesitate to increase the demand for my new-found getaway, Mad Calf Cottage is deserving of a perfect review!

Summary: What a beautiful cottage and great location for a little rest & recuperation. Owner Lara is great, location is great, water access with dock & kayaks a big plus. Would have been better is more restaurants etc were open but can’t fault the property just current corona circumstances. Thanks for sharing your cottage with us

Summary: After having to change our original wedding plans due to the pandemic, we settled on staying at Mad Calf after a small, intimate ceremony with family nearby. The cottage was even better than the pictures showed— plenty of room, super comfortable, and dock access was a great place to relax with a cup of coffee.
