Positive: We had a lovely stay as a family of 4 (two kids 5 & 10) over the summer holidays. The property was easily accessible, clean, well maintained and in a good location to explore York and surrounding areas by car. I took our subscription recipe box to make most of our meals on an evening - and the cottage was well equipped for me to make everything with ease. I’d not realised until we were there (but great for future reference as I hope to return) that there’s another cottage directly next door - perfect if travelling with family or friends. You’d definitely need a car, there’s about a 10minute drive to the designer shopping outlet which has lots of super chargers if you’re electric - and we made use of these regularly. During our 5 day stay we visited fountains abbey, the forbidden corner, Yorkshire wildlife park, York city centre - where there’s plenty to do on a rainy day and the dreamery gardens. There’s absolutely loads to see and do around this part of the country and I’d say pear tree cottage is a great base. Thanks for having us!

Positive: Nicely decorated and equipped little cottage. The kitchen was well equipped and there was a small welcome pack. It's a great space, and quite roomy for 4 people over a weekend. It's also very close to one of the park and ride to go into York. You definitely need a car though.
Negative: The property is advertised on Booking but is managed by another party. That led to a lot of emails at the time of booking, and made it hard to find information about the property. And with all of this, we still had to contact the owners directly for check-in instructions. Similarly, the check out instructions weren't clear and we noticed the need to remove the bed linen last minute as it was only on the document on the table. And as there is a management company, that was not expected.

Positive: Loved everything about pear tree cottage. Beautiful cottage with lovely decor, had everything we needed for a short visit to see family. The garden was very peaceful, could've spent all day there. Park and ride was handy, and the chess set and games board was a lovely touch, luckily we had lovely weather but would've been entertained had we stayed in nonetheless.
Negative: Nothing everything was top notch, oh sugar, that was the only thing we didn't have to make a cuppa after a long journey. But the homemade scones made up for that ☺️
