Great location—this hidden gem in the center of Northwest Washington, D.C. is ten minutes by taxi from Ronald Reagan National Airport and five minutes from Union Station. Situated several blocks from the D.C. Convention Center, you can walk to Metro (subway station—yellow, green and silver lines), the White House, the Smithsonian museums on the National Mall, Logan Circle and a legion of world class restaurants. You can also walk to Chinatown, City Center, Downtown, Penn Quarter, Whole Foods and 14th Street nightlife. Explore, rest, rejuvenate, relax!
Originally the kitchen of a large Victorian home built in the 1860s, this elegant, unique English basement apartment has seen a lot of history here in the Nation's Capital, and its current incarnation is versatile, sleek and compact with sunny front windows that receive lots of morning light.
The unit is equipped with cable, WiFi, a 43" smart TV, a Bose stereo and a full-size washer/dryer. A peaceful, private, walled garden with three water features in the rear and a small gas-powered wood stove in the living room further enhance the unit's unique charm. A four-top table converts to seat six, and four extra folding chairs are stored in the coat closet. In addition to the queen-size bed in the bedroom, the sofa converts to a full size bed that sleeps two.
If you prefer to dine at home, you have everything you need to cook and serve a seated dinner for six. In the kitchen you’ll find coffee, tea, creamer, sugar, spices, oil and vinegar. Dish and laundry soap are provided, as are shampoo, conditioner, soap, a blow-dryer and clean towels. Bed linens are provided. Inquire about additional maid service if you need it. There’s a grocery store, a convenience store, and a liquor store within a block, and up 14th Street there’s a Whole Foods and a Trader Joe's.
There is street parking only, and on request a residential parking permit is provided at no charge. The permit’s allows parking in the restricted areas around the home. You will need to provide your vehicle's plate number, state, make and color in advance of your arrival when requesting the pass.
There is a Capital Bikeshare across the street and scooter, Smart Car and Segway rental locations nearby.
The owner, Tom, lives on site and is available to provide help and answer additional questions during your stay. Welcome!

Summary: This has been a great experience for is. We werre able to check in early. Tom actually went out of his way to pick up tickets that we trying to figure out how we would ge but we wouldnt be in town in time to grab in person! How great is that! The neighborhood is safe and we used metro for most of our travels or we walked. Easy in/out. Lots of information for lical restaurants that he recommends. We will definitely be back!

Summary: Conveniently located property. We were able to easily walk to 2 different metro stops or walk the whole way. The property was very clean and we appreciated the small touches like shampoo/conditioner/body wash in the shower and a Brita in the fridge. The owner was very responsive when we had a question.

Summary: Tom is a great and very communicative host and his garden style apartment is a perfect, comfortable spot to stay if you want to retreat from a busy day of touring and crowds. It’s about a half hour to 45 min walk to the Capitol area, Ubers and Lime bikes/scooters are plentiful, and the metro station is a few blocks away. We enjoyed dinners at a few neighborhood restaurants and also cooked a few - Tom has a nicely stocked kitchen in the apartment. The bed was comfortable and the water was always hot. Thanks for your hospitality & a great stay, and sorry again about setting off the smoke alarm!

Summary: This was our second stay in Tom’s lovely flat. It’s comfortable, cozy, well furnished and quiet. The bedroom, living room, bathroom and kitchen are well furnished and comfortable. The Capitol Supermarket is a perfect small grocery right around the corner that met all our food and beverage needs. The mall and various museums are an easy walk. Seylou Bakery bakes wonderful artisan breads. During a brief neighborhood power outage Tom texted us, then met us at our door with a flashlight and candles!We are already planning another stay in this DC hideaway. Charlie & Nancy

Summary: We just returned from an enjoyable stay at this condo. My wife and I own a beach condo which we rent through VRBO. We pay close attention to details at our condo and do the same when traveling to other VRBO properties. We were thoroughly impressed with the entire process from booking to check out. For detailed oriented folks like me, I will summarize our stay as follows:1. Tom (the owner) is very responsive. For example, I had a question regarding the TV remote and I texted Tom, I had a response within 5 minutes. 2. We felt very safe in this neighborhood. We flew into DC and took an Uber from Reagan. Short commute to/from Reagan.3. There are plenty of places to shop and dine within easy walking distance. We experienced single digit wind chill values and still enjoyed walking to and from our destinations.4. Realistically, this condo is a 25-30 easy walk to the museums, The National Mall, The White House, etc. 5. Tom provides you with plenty of items for your stay, such a laundry detergent, TP, etc. The shower has a nice wall mounted dispenser with body wash, shampoo and conditioner. My wife enjoyed the shampoo and conditioner so much that I texted Tom to inquire as to the brand. As stated earlier, I once again had a response in 5 minutes.6. The kitchen is incredible with more spices than I have ever seen in a rental condo. Fully stocked, plastic wrap, aluminum foil, you name it, it was there. We definitely plan to make a return visit to Tom’s condo.
