Welcome to Seabury Lookout – your cosy coastal getaway!
Once the original Postmaster’s house, our bach blends history with comfort. Perched high on the hill, you’ll love sipping your morning coffee (or evening wine) on either side of the bach; the estuary, and the mighty Tararua Ranges or the sunny deck while taking in views of farmland and the settlement.
Inside, it’s classic Kiwi holiday living. The main lounge has plenty of seating and a roaring fire for winter evenings, while the separate kids’ lounge with additional TV keeps little ones entertained. Bedrooms are simple, restful spaces and the bathroom is spacious with a bath/shower and separate loo. We’ve stocked up on puzzles, board games, and the latest NZ House & Garden mags for those slower holiday moments. Half the home now has double glazing, making it extra snug on cooler nights.
The deck is a favourite hangout — with built-in picnic seating, an umbrella for shade, and gates to keep kids safe. When the sun sets, the village lights sparkle and the night sky fills with stars.

Summary: Lovely place to stay with elevated outlook and good views. Well stocked with appliances and essentials. Liked the proximity to the tennis courts and the park. Handy location with good parking at the top and secure. No wifi. Narrow driveway. Would prefer not to bring own linen and do cleaning for lesser surcharge. Overall great play to stay.

Summary: Very nice beach property. Well equiped with everything you could need. Good access to walks, river and beach. My only quibble would be the requirement to provide your own linen and doing the cleaning. It’s not really appropriate when you are paying a commercial rent.

Summary: A wonderful holoday house, a great stay pre-christmas before the holiday buzz took off. Dianne and Riley were great hosts and prompt with their responses back to our inquiries. Their Foxten Beach home was a lovely and relaxing place to unwind and forget the city life. Playground close by for our little 4 year old including tennis and netball courts and a flying fox, bonus! Lovely natural nature reserves close by and the beach very accessible. A lovely walk there over sand dunes for kids. Cafes and local shops close by were good to get brunch or a coffee after a nice walk along the beach. Highly reccimend staying there.
