Positive: Dinner was fantastic and varied each night, making every meal a treat. The owners were incredibly friendly and helpful, always ready to assist with any questions. And having Moco, the lovable golden retriever, around was the perfect bonus to our stay. Thank you!

Positive: Traditional Japanese style hospitality provided by a family owned and run lodge. Breakfast and dinner included which was an amazing banquet of Japanese food which changed daily. The house dog, a 10 year old Golden Retriever called Moko was delightful and very friendly.
Negative: Bedding was futons on the floor, but that was part of the traditional experience.

Positive: We liked the way it was a traditional Japanese place run by Japanese people, with traditional Japanese dinners. We liked the area in the front foyer where we could sit after dinner. Their golden retriever dog 'Moko' is delightful. Easy access to the shuttle bus.
Negative: No toilet in our room. However we acknowledge this is part of the "traditional" design.
Summary: Lovely hosts, nice traditional Japanese hotel, convenient location to ski lifts and to shuttle bus.

Positive: The staff was so friendly and welcoming, we loved the daily breakfast and local delicious dinners. It was a great experience for us and the kids having Japanese style rooms and the onsen incl. sauna was amazing after a cold day skiing.
Negative: Its a bit further away from the central shiga resorts and takes a bit of a bus ride to get there.

Positive: The location to the ski slopes and ski rental shop, as well as the new hot pools were all very nice. The meals were also very elaborate and incredible.
Negative: We had checked out, paid our bill in full, and walked down to the bus station. The owner came speeding down to us in his car after we had been waiting at the station for ten minutes, and took my husband back to the hotel to pay more money because he said his wife did not charge us the right amount. The issue was the bus was arriving and now my husband is gone. If they had made that mistake they shouldn’t be chasing after us to get more money and make us miss our bus. We purposely checked out early to make sure we would have plenty of time to make the bus. If it wasn’t for this mistake they made after we had checked out and paid our bill we would give it ten stars rating. For goodness sake if an owner makes a mistake accept the responsibility for it.

Positive: Location is great if you are planning on visiting the ski resorts. Not much else happening.
Negative: They really did not understand dietary requirements. Tried to explain to them that I can not eat meat but continued to be served meat for dinner. I ordered an egg so that I could still have some protein and then they made me pay for it at the end of my stay which seemed ridiculous considering I didn’t eat any of the meat.
Summary: Old fashioned ski lodge. The dog made the whole stay worth it.
